Book {Review} The Art of Bible Journaling
I was asked by Erin Bassett to review her new book called "The Art of Bible Journaling." Of course, I jumped on the chance to see what she has been up to! As a fellow BSFer, I was excited to look at her book. Well, I was not disappointed. Her book starts from the ground up. It walks you through choosing a Bible including different translations, selecting Bible passages to journal, how to handle mistakes, and she also introduces you to tools and materials to use. All of that is then followed by 60 step-by-step techniques with photographs to walk you through each one! The instructions and photographs are very clear. This makes it very simple for a first-time Bible journaler to dig in and get started. And even if you have been Bible journaling for a while, there are still fun and new things to learn from Erin's book. She also shows you how to incorporate lots of supplies that you probably already have on hand. And to finish off this 159-page book, there are stickers, a ruler and stencils for tracing, traceable art, vellum, and die cuts for you to use. This book has it all for anyone to Bible journal. And if you are one that does not want to journal in your Bible, not a problem. Erin gives you other options too. There are plenty of techniques for beginners to experienced alike.
I am teaching a class at our church this summer, and I will be using this book for people to use, reference, etc. I am sure once getting their hands on it, that they too will want their own copies. I highly recommend it. You can purchase it on Amazon by clicking here. Read the reviews there also as some people have included pictures of their own journaling after using the book. Out of 39 reviews thus far, Erin has received 5 stars on her book. I too would give it 5 stars! It is also available at Barnes & Noble, Hobby Lobby, and Joann's. If you would like to see more about Erin, you can visit her blog here. Thanks for joining me, and thanks to Erin for the opportunity to review this wonderful book!

Glory {Art} Rewind 2018, Religion
I wanted us to look at a previous study about religion. I see so much talk on various social media sites about being religious, what denomination you belong to, etc. It's so much more than that, and instead my prayer is that people truly understand that it's about a relationship not religion. I encourage you to read Hebrews 11:4-31 before beginning today's study. These passages don't say "By being a Methodist . . ." or "By following this religious law . . ." Our relationship begins by putting our faith in Christ not a religion. So all of these mentioned in this passage had faith in Christ and a relationship with Christ. Wouldn't you too love to experience a relationship with the living God instead of following a bunch of religious rules? Let's read on.
- Describe your relationship with Christ.
- How might you deepen your relationship with the Lord?
- Do you feel feel you are religious or living for Christ? Explain.
I have not done a journal page in quite some time, and I really wanted to journal about my relationship with Christ. My dear friend and I were also working together in my studio last week, and she had been using some red paint. Of course, we don't waste paint so I used some of the paint to stencil these flowers onto book paper. I never use red, so she challenges me to use it. :) Red is certainly perfect for His blood shed for me!
Anyway, once the flowers were dry, I was able to cut them out and use one of them on today's page. I only used one of the flowers so I have a second one still to use on another project. I put them on the page with a glue stick and then doodled around them before adding the typed prompt.
