I used a catalog that I got in the mail that I didn't want anymore, and when one page got too much glue or paint on it, just flip the page to a new clean one. I was concerned that a magazine would not lay flat enough and would keep trying to 'flip up' on me, especially towards the back of the magazine. But since I was using a smaller catalog, it laid perfectly flat with no problems.
