Tuesday's {Tip} Heat Embossing Small Items

Okay, so admit it. How many of you have burned a finger or two trying to heat emboss something small? I have a for sure so usually I end up not cutting items out until they are embossed but sometimes that doesn't work. For instance, these layered flowers I had to cut out first before covering them in VersaMark and clear embossing powder. They were small and could have easily burned my fingers.
So, as I have been watching Jennifer McGuire's Holiday Thinking of Inking classes, I discovered her technique for heat embossing small items, and I thought I would share it with you.

First, grab your removeable adhesive and a small strip of cardstock from your trash can. I am sure most of you have a small strip in there somewhere. :) Then add a bit of removeable adhesive to the end of the strip of cardstock. Attach to the back of the piece that needs to be heat embossed and emboss away!
Yes, you hold onto the strip of cardstock while you heat emboss thus you won't burn your fingers! How cool is that? :) I tried it with the flowers above, and it sure worked great. Now you could use tweezers; however, you will be missing a small bit of embossing where the tweezers have been attached to your item. Not sure you want that. :)
I hope you enjoyed this and will give it a try next time you have to emboss something small. Also be sure to watch Jennifer's other videos. They really are great! Happy Tuesday!

  3. Well that's a smart idea! Much better than chasing the item all over the desk too ;)
