His Holy Name {Challenge 2, Sovereign}

Challenge Word 2: Sovereign
God’s Attribute: God is sovereign, and He has power and authority over all creation. God is in total control. He is the only one with all the answers. God is working out His great plan for His great purpose. Ruth Bell Graham said “Either He is sovereign or He is not God.”

In Ezekiel, we can find 210 verses in the NIV that use the phrase “Sovereign LORD.” Ezekiel chose to obey God, and he lived what he preached. The other 85 verses using the word sovereign can be found throughout the Bible.

How does this affect my daily life? How do you react when you are going through something difficult? Do you stress? Do you talk to all of your friends and seek advice from everyone you know? Or do you have a complete and utter trust knowing that God is sovereign and that He has a plan for this current trial? Does it give you a peace or does it bother you that you are not in charge? Hannah Whitall Smith said “He overrules everything. No trial comes except by His permission and for some wise and loving purpose which perhaps only eternity will disclose.”

Our lives are not our own. He has a plan for your life and my life. Though God is in control of all of His creation, we have to remember that we also have free will, and we are responsible for the choices we make. He has given us everything we need to believe and obey. We must learn to submit to Him and rest in Him. We can seek His will and follow His plan for us or we can try to do it on our own and eventually fall and pay the consequences for our choices. He loves you. He loves me. What amazing plans might He have for you? Who do you believe is in control? Do you faithfully seek His will?

For my page this week, I used Cherry Art papers. I also pulled out my old Making Memories paint to paint a piece of Paper Trey cardstock in red. Then I used that piece to write my verse. The stamps I used for the word Sovereign are the new Unity release Just My Type. Isn't that a wonderful font? I also used Stickles black diamond but it is really hard to see in this picture.
The verse I chose for this challenge is:
2 Samuel 7:22 "How great you are, O Sovereign LORD! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you. . ."

Have fun studying and creating! Remember to use the Keyword HHN09, and to chat about the challenge, join us in this thread here on Splitcoaststampers! Blessings to each of you!

God is so awesome! This is exactly what we have been talking about in Sunday School! We are studying the Chip Ingram book, God as He Longs for us to see Him, and that is one of the chapters - The Sovereignty of God!!!!! Wow!!
Thank you, Patter!!!

I can't wait to get started on this! I am often one of those people who likes to be in control but know that it is really God who is in control. When I trust in God I am always at greater peace. This is definitely an area of growth for me in my relationship with God.

This is beautiful. I am putting my Scripture Challenge book and His Holy Name book together this coming weekend at a 12 hour crop in town. I can't wait to take pics of it and share.

This is such a timely word to focus on as the world seems so 'out of control' with friends & neighbors losing their jobs. Another verse In Ps. 40:5 says, "Thy wonderful purposes are all for our good." We just have to believe in these promises! Patter, I love your page in the black, red & white...it makes a bold statement just like the concept of God being our ALL is a bold concept!

Wow, what a great focus, esp for today's event! God is Sovereign~

I am putting my challenge into a 7x7 book. Playing with it online first, creating the verses. Then I'll see what I have to make the actual pages! So far, I'm using the font CK Monogram for the names. Perhaps I'll find my monogram stamps and gold emboss them on the paper.

HI - Great idea for a challenge - however, it might be a nice idea to actually USE God's name in this NAME challenge. If you're not sure what His name is you can look it up in the King James Version of the Bible at Psalms 83:18.

Patter, this has been such a good thing for me. Thanks for hosting us in this creative way to get into God's word. I am alittle disappoint in the album that I pick to do this--it is alittle to small. I find that I don't have enough room to stamp and stuff. Oh well, I am getting the verses and I am getting into his work!! Thanks! Oh by the way here is my submission for Sovereign:

Here's mine. I had a hard time with it---how does one create a symbol of sovereignty? I chose purple for richness and a font that seemed to fit...
