Art {Journaling} My Pages for This Week

**Please Note: I have 3 posts today which includes this post below. For the "Time With Patter" post for Our Daily Bread Designs, please click here. I share step-by-step instructions on how I create a layout.  For today's Faith Journaling post, please click here. I wouldn't want you to miss out on any of the fun. Thank you!

Oh have I had fun!!! I cannot begin to explain how fun this is to break out from my "norm." I LOVE creating like this, playing with different paints and products, and just getting messy. If I don't like something, I can just gesso or paint over it. How cool is that? Below is a page I did this week. There is an area here that I painted over several different times because each time I just didn't like what I had put there. I ended up using it as my journaling spot. It worked perfectly for that!

No need for starting over or tearing out pages with art journaling--just paint over the mess and add something new. There are no mistakes in art journaling! :)

For my second page, I decided to go with bright colors. When I started, they were a little too bright so I put a little gesso at the top of the page, misted it with a lot of water, and let it run. I then did it again midway down the page. It not only muted the colors a little, it added to the design. Love that. I also really didn't feel like doing bright colors as I wasn't feeling "bright or joyful" at the time. But I finished the page the next day, and it was a day God answered a prayer in an amazing way! He knew I was going to feel joyful and bright when I finished the page! I can only give Him the glory!

I hope you have enjoyed my pages for today. I really feel I could do one of these every night after dinner--so relaxing and fun! Have a joyous day!

  1. These are great pages! I love the color. I've been doing some more art journaling too and I'm surprised how much I enjoy it. I'm always anxious to put all the paint away and clean up but it's a nice change too. :)

  2. I love your excitement about the art journaling. I would like to take a class too. I had bought a magazine a couple months ago from Somerset Studio and had tried to do some art journaling similiar to 2 or 3 things I liked in it. This is the closest I can ever come to being an artist, because it's not supposed to be perfect. I really like your page today. Blessings, Verona
