Organizational {Friday} Flowers or Other Small Embellishments

Most of you know from my creations that I LOVE flowers and leaves. I really have an obsession.  Well, I used to keep them in two drawers of my Scrap 'n Cube; however, I have recently discovered that I have flowers buried below other flowers, and I am not using everything wisely. In fact, I almost placed an order for some larger leaves only to find out I had a bunch buried. So, I set out to reorganize them.

First, I purchased two sets of four Plano Stowaway boxes from Amazon for a total of eight boxes. I then began organizing my flowers by color. I love these boxes because the dividers can be put wherever you need them. That means you can have a large section, small section—any size that you need. As you can see in the photos below that I have many different sized sections.

Each of my eight boxes are arranged this way, and these boxes can accommodate many different sized flowers and leaves. These boxes also work for wood veneers and other embellishments. There are all sorts of possibilities. :)

Once I was done organizing, I labeled the end of each box with washi tape. The color of washi tape on the end matches the color of flowers inside the box. If there are two different colors of flowers in the box, then there are two different colors of washi tape on the end of the box. :) Makes it super easy to grab a box with the flowers I need. They then stack on my new shelving unit which I think I will share about next week.

Most of my flowers are purchased from Wild Orchid Crafts as their prices are incredible and shipping is cheap even though they are shipped from England! Their customer service is great too!

And before I close today, I have decided to give away some of these beautiful flowers to one blessed reader. All you have to do is leave a comment here by Thursday, March 7, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern, and I will announce the winner in next Friday's organizational post. Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy your weekend!

I knew I liked you for a reason, Patter. You are so organized and full of great ideas. LOL! :) Not only do I love how you used the containers, but that you marked them with washi to note the colors inside is genius. :)

What pretty flowers, and arrayed so beautifully. Easy to see what you seek, or even get an idea to use something that might have been neglected. You inspire me to get my embellishments more visibly stored. Thank you---Jennifer in Ohio

Love your organizational ideas and have put many of them to use in my craft studio. I also have a weakness for pretty flowers and rarely pass up an opportunity to add to my stash

Love the idea of putting washi tape on the boxes to code the color of embellies inside. I checked out Wild Orchid Crafts and yes, I will be ordering from them :). In the mean time I am off to Amazon to buy some Plano boxes........Patter you are such an enabler!! LOL!

Thanks for the organizational tips about the boxes and tape. That seems to be my most challenging area, whether in my craft space or elsewhere.

Thank you for thinking of us! I love this idea. I just started using these kinds of boxes for my diecuts. I never thought of using it for the flowers. Just a terrific idea! Of course I have boys to scrap for so I do not have the large number of flowers that you have, naturally.

Really clever organizational idea! Not really sure that I have enough flowers to employ this but it certainly makes sense to store flowers in a hard sided container.

With two fisherman in the house (well, one insisted on growing up and moved out to start his own family :) ), I'm well acquainted with Plano boxes. I've used them for other scrappy items but never thought about them for flowers (yes, I'm having a DUH! moment!). The washi tape is pure genius. Thanks so much for another great idea. Praying for all of you.
