Organizational {Friday} Wine Rack Storage

Okay, did the title get you? No, this post is not about organizing your wine collection. I don't drink so I don't have any of that to organize. LOL! Anyway, my precious sister gave us a wine rack she didn't use several years ago. My hubby used it for a while for his sparkling water and a couple of wine bottles but in our new house, there is a built in wine rack in the kitchen. So, no need for this little beauty. Of course, I decided to recycle this one, and I thought I would share with you how I have used it. Sis, I hope you like what I have done with it. :)

The wine rack sits on top of my new fabric storage that I shared with you last week. If you missed that post, click here. I knew I wanted to put pencils and smaller things in cups on this wine rack but I didn't have any cups. I tried one of our plastic cups from the kitchen and it almost fit as I wanted it to. So based on the diameter and length of the cup I had, I headed to Target. The kids thought I was nuts measuring a cup. LOL! At Target I found a clear, plastic tumbler that was a tiny bit longer and a tad wider. Perfect--exactly what I needed. I purchased 10, and here is how they looked in the wine rack:

Just the perfect fit! I filled the cups with colored pencils, wooden embellishments such as spools and Scrabble letters, and also measuring tapes. This is the perfect storage for these items, and I think it looks pretty too. Here it is filled:

I am sure you can find a wine rack inexpensively at a local Good Will or other thrift store or maybe you have an old one lying around. Have fun organizing, and I hope this has been helpful! Blessings to each of you!

What a great idea. We have a wooden wine rack in the pantry. We don't drink so I'm not even sure what it is holding right now. I will have to go look at it and try to come out with a good idea. Thanks for getting me thinking.

Oh Patter, thanks so much for this tip! I have a similar wine rack that has been sitting in our garage because I could not figure out how to repurpose it, but I did not want to get rid of it. I love how you use it for more than pencils/markers. It would be great for some embellishments.

Sounds like you are getting settled in and I'd love to hear from you when you are, and are ready for a coffee/tea break some time!!! Just let me know as I'm trying hard not to bother you before you are settled!!! :)

Daily use of a wine rack has to be manufactured from a fabric that's robust, whereas displayed wine are often terribly fantastically displayed in glass wine racks.

What a fantastic idea! Thanks SO much for sharing it. I have been struggling with a way to display my pencils, because I really like having them out for easy access, but I know they should be stored horizontally and was having a real issue trying to come up with a solution that worked. This is terrific. Now I just need to find an inexpensive wine rack somewhere. .. . Lol!

BTW, I am in Atlanta and am wondering where in NC you are? I would love to have a crafty friend nearby!

Thanks,
Maureen

I LOVE this idea. I've been storing an antique wood wine rack for years, gave it away and it came back to me. I just couldn't find a use for it. This is super!! I'm sure THIS will work for me!

I also appreciate your testimony for Christ on your site. I too, am a follower of Christ and it's always refreshing to fine others who are and are not ashamed.
