{Organizational} Friday

Let's talk about organizing sketches today. I do not use sketches a lot; however, when I want to use them I like having them all in one spot. Sketches are available in many places. For instance:

  • Most magazines have sketches now in each issue.
  • There are many sketch blogs and sketch sites available.
  • You may create your own sketches that have been inspired by various things.
  • You may see a sketch you like as part of an article, a crop challenge, a message board challenge, etc.
With sketches coming from so many different sources, how do you organize them? I have tried many different things over the years but I have finally found my favorite. I use the clear Quickutz storage sheets to put my sketches in. Each square measures 2x2. They are the perfect size for each sketch! I can get 16 sketches on a page (8 front and 8 back). I either cut the sketches out from a magazine or print them as I see them. I then write the source on the back of the sketch so I can always give credit to the person that has created the sketch. Then it is easy to slide the small sketch into its square. Here is a picture of one of my storage sheets:

I store the sheets in a small binder. The binder also contains tabbed sections so my pages are sorted by the number of pictures on a sketch. It makes it easier to find what I am looking for if I have them organized that way. If you do not have any Quickutz storage sheets or you want more sketches per page, you can always use slide mount page protectors. That would be a great solution too. I hope that you will share your sketch storage ideas in the comment section here. Post a link if you have a picture. I would love to see your ideas!

Hi Patter, you are just too clever. I never thought about using those sheets for anything other than more and more diecuts, LOLOL. Your idea's a lot cheaper and would probably get used more. hugs <3
