2008 Scripture Challenge RAK!!

I have heard from SO many of you about how excited you are about the upcoming Scripture Challenge. I am too! I have also had some of you asking for hints on the first week's challenge. You ladies know who you are! And I love ya but I am not giving away any hints. :) Well, to help pass the time until we begin on January 7th, I thought I would offer a RAK! It is a brand new book titled: The Storekeeper's Daughter by Wanda E. Brunstetter. Here is the book description:

  • Time seems to stand still in Naomi Fisher's tranquil Amish community. Helping her widowed father run the general store, keeping house, and raising her seven brothers and sisters leaves her precious little time for courtship. But when her baby brother disappears, she's forced to reconsider her course. Will she leave everything familiar to pursue a new avenue?
The reviews I have seen have been wonderful. I have not read my copy yet but wanted to offer this new extra copy I have up for a RAK to help pass the time until January 7th. So, if you are part of the Scripture Challenge, post a comment here about the Scripture Challenge. Maybe you post about the type of album you are using, or the cards you are using, or how you are looking foward to the challenge. I will then randomly select a winner who will get this wonderful book to read over the holidays. I will draw a winner on Monday, December 10th, so make sure you get those comments posted to be entered in the drawing! And for anyone that hasn't joined the challenge yet, it is certainly not too late. We would love to have you. I have a label here on my blog called "scripture challenge." You can read all of the posts and see what I need from you. Good luck everyone!

Patter, you are so kind - looks like a great book! I'm looking forward to the challenge of studying my Bible to find verses related to the subject posted. A perfect opportunity to learn and grow! Thanks for organizing the challenge! Blessings - LouAnn

I am really excited about participating in the challenge! I think it will be fun to look through my Bible to find something to fit the subject. I am planning to use a set of jumbo playing cards whole punched at the top with a ring through them. (Does that make sense?!?!?) Anyhow, I can't wait to get started!

That book looks really good, too! I have read some of her books before and I have always enjoyed them.

I am planning on doing a 6x6 album for my challenge. I want to add photos to the pages too if I can find some that fit the topics.

this book sounds really good! :)
You are so sweet for offering a RAK! :)

I can't wait for this challenge! I've never done a "faithbooking" mini album before, and I think it's such a wonderful idea!

Good morning! I haven't been thinking about the challenge much due to the holidays, but I know it will be just what I need once the New Year gets here. I have thought about what I'm going to put my LOs in and I've decided to do an album, maybe 6x6, but I'll have to check my stash. And I plan on using photos to illustrate the verse or to show a characteristic possessed by someone close to me. I am very excited and want to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas!

Your SO sweet!
Why did I sign up for the Scripture Challenge? Well... I saw it posted on the Two Peas site and have really been aware of the fact that I haven't been spending enough time with God or reading my Bible enough, let alone really diving in and applying it to my life. I have a 4 year old, 3 year old, and 14 month old twins and have been struggling with anxiety related health issues since the summer. I'm really wanting to avoid going on meds and believe that God's Word is applicable for ALL of life. I'm hoping that this challenge will be the motivation I need to dive into the Word. Thanks for hosting it!!

Having grown up in Lancaster County Penna. The Amish hold a dear place in my heart. I remember seeing their horse drawn black box buggies go past my house as they went to market. This book would surely bring back memories.
I am so looking forward to the scripture challenge. My artistic talents are surely a gift from God. How wonderful to be able to use those talents in creating something that helps me focus on His word for next year. I will be doing a rolodex for my desk top so I will continue to use this throughout all time.

I am participating because I feel that my quiet/devotional time needs to be enhanced with more scripture reading and memorization. I am so excited because not only will I be reading and memorizing scriptures each month, but I'll get to scrapbook as well! I'm still undecided about how I'm going to use my cards . . . I may end up using a 6x6 or 8x8 album . . . but I am so appreciative that you are spearheading this challenge so that we can all grow closer to our Savior. Thanks!

I'm looking forward to the 2008 Scripture challenge for several reasons. Mostly for me it's going to be a new creative way to study the Word of God. I'll be altering some playing cards and will add them on a single ring. That way I can carry them with me always in my purse. I can share them or study them whenever I have time, not matter where I am.

Ohh I am so totally stoked about this challenge. I plan on getting a tin to hold my jumbo cards and maybe make tabbed dividers to section off scripture that deals with certain subjects, tought times, death, stress, children, what have you and then use this as something that I can go to later on and go to that area and pull out a card that relates to that subject/topic and have an inspiurational message for myself or someone else.

What a great RAK Patter, thanks! I am still not 100% sure, but I think I am going to make a 6x6" album for the challenge. I was thinking of cards, but I think I would prefer to have an album to flip through! I can't wait until we start in Jan.

First the challenge and now a RAK. You are just awesome. But the longer it takes to get to January 7th the more sets I will be making. I am thinking of taking this challenge to a friend's daughter whom I am discipling as well as my own daughter. Give me too much more time and I'll be in challenge timeout for too much to do!!

Oooo - that book sounds wonderful - what a sweet thing to do.

I, too, am ready to start! I don't want to wait another month.

Now, something about how I am going to do this challenge. I haven't decided! HEE! I am a digiscrapper, do it will be digital. But I haven't decided whether I will make it very family oriented, OR, make it for my bible study group!

I've never done a faithbooking book, but I'm looking forward to seeing the challenges!

Such a generous RAK Patter! I am so excited about this challenge, with a 4yr old, 2 1/2yr old, and newborn baby I don't have a lot of time to myself. This challenge will give me some "me" time, while growing closer to God and studying His word. I'm going to use the 7Gypsies holder and ATC cards, very excited because I've never used them before. Thank you for this wonderful challenge!

Patter, how generous of you. I love books about the Amish people and this is one of my favorite authors.

I am trying to decide between altering 4 x 6 index cards and putting them in a photo album or binder of some type OR a 6 x 6 album. Can't decide at this point.

Looking forward to starting -- I think it will be a great help to me but also something great for my children to have in future years. THIS is what helped Mom and THIS is what she believed.

Patter,

Thank you so much for setting up the scripture challenge for all of us. I'm really looking forward to searching through my bible looking for just the right passage for each weeks challenge. I'm hoping to create a 6x6 coffee table album filled with newly learned scriptures that I will be able to share with my kids, family and friends. Thanks again!

I can't wait for this challenge to start. It's come at a perfect time for me, because I've been neglecting my time in the Word, so this'll get me back into it.
I also love novels about the Amish--I hope my name is drawn! lol

I am also looking forward to the challenge. I have been "away" from word and I think this is a great way to get back in to reading daily.

I haven't decided if I am going to use playing cards or rolodex cards. I like the idea of the playing cards hole punched on a ring. Might have to try that way.
