Okay, so you all know this is my creative blog, and I rarely post personal stuff here (except the girls' birthday). :) Well, our birthday dinner for the girls' last night cannot go without a post. This one is for the record books!
So, we meet Mom and Dad at Olive Garden at 4:55 p.m. We thought there might be crowds, and with 7 of us, we didn't want to have to wait too long. Well, we got to our table 5 minutes later. No crowds, quick to get to a table, etc. Now here is where the fun begins. After being seated, a waiter never came to our table. My mom and the girls kept seeing waiters look our way but no service. Finally a nice young man comes over to ask us if we have been waited on yet, and we tell him "no." He said he will start us off with our drinks and will get our server. Great! Wonderful! So, they bring the water and breadsticks but no plates, no drinks. Hmmm, where is our server? So, after 25 minutes, I went to find the manager. I nicely explained what was going on, and after that we had great service--UNTIL . . .
They bring out our food and drop Mom's entire meal on her lap. The plate also broke as it hit the table and glass flew everywhere. Now we have a zillion waiters AND the head cook show up to help! They have to remake Mom's meal, my meal, and my husband's meal because the glass was in our food. And my daughter with the head injury was then in severe pain for the rest of the meal since the sound of the glass breaking was extremely loud!
So, I give my daughter medicine for her head, and we begin to talk as we are waiting to have our food recooked. Mom and I begin to worry about the poor girl that dropped the plate. Is she okay? Did she burn herself? Could we pray for her? So, as our waiter comes to the table we ask about the poor girl. He then informs us that she had gone home. OH NO! How hurt was she? Well, he said physically she was fine but it was her FIRST night working at the restaurant, and she was devasted! He then said "Yeah, this is like falling down on your wedding day." Could it get any worse? Now we really feel bad! Poor thing! I keep praying for her because I just can't imagine how she felt having that happen on her first night!!
The service continued to be amazing, they brought a cake for the girls and sang a birthday song. Then we have another waiter come up to us to tell us that he himself is a triplet. Was he joking? We couldn't believe it! How cool, and one of his brothers was working there too! Now this night just got crazier and crazier! We had SO many laughs that it was worth every inconvenience! We laughed so hard because it was all so unbelievable! Mom and I were in tears at one point! Olive Garden ended up footing the entire dinner for all 7 of us AND gave us a $50 gift card. You truly had to be there to see everything that happened. It truly was unbelieveable! Now to get a hold of that hidden camera. We know there as to be a prize in there for us somewhere!

What is it with Olive Garden, birthdays and broken glass? Now don't get me wrong. I LOVE Olive Garden. I have a gift card in my purse waiting to be used now.
But we went to Olive Garden with our married kids to celebrate my sweet husbands birthday last May. We all got our food and when my daughter in law took her 3rd bite of Fettucini Alfredo, she yelled out. There was a piece of glass in it. Her mouth was bleeding. We were concerned because she had fed some to her 15 month old. So we prayed and got their insurance info, just in case the baby had gotten some glass too. Thank God all turned out fine and we got our meal free too.
I think I will celebrate Birthdays somewhere else and save Olive Garden for the Mundane times. LOL
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your girls!!!!
