Welcome to another Hip Hop Thursday! I hope you are enjoying the hop thus far. I am assuming it will be kind of quiet today since so many people are headed to CHA! If you are going, I pray you have fun! Today, you should be joining me from Linsey's inspiring blog. If not, be sure to hop back home to the Unity blog!
Today I created a cover page for my 6x6 album that I am using for my His Holy Name Challenge. I used two Unity stamps--Scalloped Journal and the smaller version of my stamp Almighty God from the Friendship Love Miracles September kit. The larger version of my stamp can be found here. The papers are from the Creative Memories 8x8 Romance Power Palette. They are so pretty! For a full list of products used, be sure to see my gallery post here on Splitcoaststampers! I also used this week's card sketch from Splitcoaststampers--SC212. This sketch was certainly very adaptable to a 6x6 scrapbook page.
Well, thanks for stopping by. Be sure to hop on over to my dear friend Chelsea's blog! I know she will have something incredible for you to see! Blessings,

HI - Great idea for a challenge - however, it might be a nice idea to actually USE God's name in this NAME challenge. If you're not sure what His name is you can look it up in the King James Version of the Bible at Psalms 83:18. HINT: It's not "Jesus" - that's God's SON.
Beautiful page! Great colors!
Great title page. The stitcing and dressted edges. combined with the colors, look beautiful.
Ack! Patter, you're making me miss being a CM rep.

This is GORGEOUS Patter!! I love it!! Love how you used the jounal stamp over the top of your page. your distressing looks very Chelsea style. GORGEOUS!!!
great page.
Gorgeous Title page! What a great addition to your book!
Dear Maria: If you look at Patter's card closely and her "sentiment," you'll actually see the Trinity in there of God the Father, GOD THE SON, and God the Holy Spirit. They are 3 in one and have many names. The only way to the Father is through the SON, Jesus Christ. John 14:6. I hope this clears up any misunderstandings and may the Lord richly bless you. Ephesians 4:29.
Gorgeous card!!!
Gorgeous card!
Beautiful project and stamping, Patter!
Patter, this is SOOOO gorgeous!!!! I love it! You know I am in love with the distressing and that stamp! Fabulous!

Cindy -
Thanks for your comment/response.
That's fine if that's what you believe (even though I've yet to see the word "Trinity" in any Bible translation) but why ignore God's real name? Even if you are referring to him as part of a Trinity? We use Jesus's name....
~MARIA~
Maria, thank you for you thoughts. You are correct, the word Trinity is not in the Bible. However, the Bible cleary teaches that there is only one God, yet it calls all three Persons God. It is just as I am Patter--wife, mother, daughter. God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Some scriptures for you to reference are:
There is only one God (Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 44:6-8; 45:5a)
The Son is God (John 1:1-5, 14; John 10:30-33, John 20:28, Hebrews 1:6-8, Philippians 2:9-11)
Passages that refer to Jesus' Deity (Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah 9:6, John 1:1, John 1:18, John 8:58-59, John 10:30, Acts 20:28, Romans 9:5, Romans 10:9-13, Colossians 1:15-16, Colossians 2:9, Titus 2:13, Hebrews 1:3, 8; 2 Peter 1:1, 1 John 5:20)
The Holy Spirit is God (Acts 5:3-4, 2 Corinthians 3:16-17, Exodus 34:34)
Thank you again for your thoughts, and have a blessed day!
Wow, Patter - That's a lot to reference! Thanks. I don't believe in the Trinity - I know you are very open minded, so I know you'll read my comment below as to why I don't.
This will be my last comment since I don't want to ruin your blog with religious doctrinal debates. BTW - your blog is great and so are all your Project 365 ideas.
Thanks for listening.
Long before the founding of Christianity the idea of a triune god or a god-in-three persons was a common belief in ancient religions. Although many of these religions had many minor deities, they distinctly acknowledged that there was one supreme God who consisted of three persons or essences. The Babylonians used an equilateral triangle to represent this three-in-one god, now the symbol of the modern three-in-one believers. The Greek triad was composed of Zeus, Athena and Apollo. These three were said by the pagans to 'agree in one.' One of the largest pagan temples built by the Romans was constructed at Ballbek (situated in present day Lebanon) to their Trinity of Jupiter, Mercury and Venus. Although other religions for thousands of years before Christ was born worshipped a triune god, the Trinity was not a part of Christian dogma and formal documents of the first three centuries after Christ. That there was no formal, established doctrine of the Trinity until the fourth century is a fully documented historical fact. Clearly, historians of church dogma and systematic theologians agree that the idea of a Christian Trinity was not a part of the first century church. The twelve apostles never subscribed to it or received revelation about it. So how then did a trinitarian doctrine come about? It gradually evolved and gained momentum in late first, second and third centuries as pagans, who had converted to Christianity, brought to Christianity some of their pagan beliefs and practices.
We can trace the history of this doctrine, and discover its source, not in the Christian revelation, but in the Platonic philosophy … The Trinity is not a doctrine of Christ and his Apostles, but a fiction of the school of the later Platonists. The Bible does not teach the doctrine of the Trinity. Neither the word Trinity itself, nor such language as one in three, three in one, one essence or substance or three persons, is biblical language. The language of the doctrine is the language of the ancient Church, taken not from the Bible but from classical Greek philosophy.
Hi again Maria. Your response is eloquently well thought out and written, and I believe deserves a respectful response (i.e., my thoughts). Like you, I don't wish to clutter Patter's blog with religious debate. The Trinity is not spoken of in the Bible. I think that the word itself is by man, i.e., three for God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
What I would like to know your thoughts on is this. Even before the world was created in Genesis, reference is made to what we call the Trinity in Genesis. Genesis 1:1, God created; Genesis 1:2, the Spirit of God; Genesis 1:26, Let US make man in our image, after OUR likeness.
Of course, Jesus is mentioned all throughout the Old Testament by various names.
Thank you for any response and if you'd like to e-mail me your thoughts, please do so at cbcoutts at comcast dot net.
Have a great day.
What a marvelous card! It is beautiful!
Love your sketch, love your faith!
Bless you!!
Kim Marie
