Organizational {Friday}

Okay, are you tired of swiping your stamp ink on a scrap piece of paper to see what the color looks like? Do you have 6 shades of blue but you don't know which one will match your patterned paper? Well, I have been meaning to make color swatches of my inks for a LONG time. I finally did it this morning because it has been driving me nuts using scrap paper! I decided to work on my Tsukineko Dew Drops first. I have the Dew Drops in Brilliance inks, Versa Magic inks, and Memento inks. I love them all, and I have them all stored on one side of my Stampin Things Topper seen here. Now this is an older picture, and I actually have 9 Dew Drops across on each row. Really, really nice, and they are on my desk at my fingertips! To create my color swatches, I first created small squares in a Microsoft Excel file and printed them out on white cardstock. Then I took a small Unity butterfly stamp and stamped each ink color in the squares.Next to the squares, I wrote the type of ink and the color name. This is what my page turned out like:This will be so handy. Now I will not have to waste paper or ink anymore trying to match colors. I will just use this page of swatches for matching. Agh, why didn't I do this sooner? Enjoy, and spend a few minutes organizing your stamp inks! You will love it!

I actually started to do this with my markers and should do it with my non SU inks (I have the SU inks done already). My problem is storing the sheets with the swatches. I would love to know what are you doing with them to keep them conveniently at hand?

I am keeping them in my binder which also has swatches of my Stickles, Copics, etc. You can see it here:

That is SO funny... I did the same thing this morning before I even read your blog!!! I was tired of wondering exactly what shade I was using.
Great minds... LOL

Great idea. I don't have a lot of inks but still wonder about different blues, etc. I did my stickles after seeing your sheet (I am pretty sure I downloaded it from you).

Thank you for the inspiration. This fit right in with my organizational makeover. I was able to complete the task today and can now continue on with the rest of my organizational makeover. Little by little I am getting there.

This is a super-duper inspirational idea! Thanks for sharing! =). I think I might do the excel file with the printed words of what to stamp...then, stamp the sample color ink. That way the words would be clearer to read...my handwriting isn't as good as yours =)
