I {{{heart}}} your Unity stamp :-)

I'm relearning so much more all the time now that it is *clicking* with my 4 and 6 yo dds! Most recently I was impressed with 6 yo when we were talking about last week's sermon, Keeping First Things First. He talked about the rich young ruler and how he easily and readily followed the last 5 commandments but God essentially told him to put first things first, go back to the first commandment, live it and follow Him. I asked her, what do you think would've happened if the rich young ruler had obeyed God and given up his possessions? She said, a lot of people would have been blessed! Doesn't that make your heart melt? So I told her yes, a lot of people would've received a blessing from him giving away his possessions, and had he followed God, there's a chance that one of the disciples who hadn't been chosen yet might not have gotten to become a disciple. She said, you mean the rich guy would've gotten to learn from Jesus instead of playing with all his toys and he didn't?

Gotta love the insight of the young ones ;-)

I am amazed that even though I have yet to scrap a single card have have been blessed by finding my verses. Isaiah 8:9 (second half of the verse) was a verse that has been a favorite of mine since it helped me through some tough times in college. Your challenge has brought it back into my memory along with the reasons I needed it then and the reasons I need it now. "If you do not stand firm in your FAITH, you will not stand at all." God bless!

I have only made 1 page for the challenge, but I have been keeping up with the study. I look forward to each post you make for the challenge. I have started a notebook with the posts you make every two weeks, and add verses and notes. Hopefully this summer when school is out, I can get caught up on the scrapping.

What yummy prizes!

One of my favorite verses, which is brought to my mind all the time is:

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.

2 Corinthians 11:26

I am a migraine sufferer, and like Paul, I ask the Lord to "take this thorn from my side" every day. And every day I hear 2 Cor. 11:26 in my ear. And I am thankful.

I am so inspired by you sharing your faith! I'm sure you're very famliar with it, but one of my favorite verses is, "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength" -Phil. 4:13. It's one verse that never fails to get me through and give me strength, no matter where I am in my walk with Him. What a great stamp! Thanks for the opportunity to win.

Hi Patter, I was just thinking this morning about the challenge and the four words we have done, and was challenging myself afresh woth them - Is God truely sovereign in my life? and the like! Thank you s o much for renewing my focus through these challenges.
My favourite verse? Philippians 1:6 "being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good thing in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus;" there is always hope as He is always working in my life to align it with His design for me! :-)

I can't tell you how thankful I am that I was led to your blog and to these challenges. My Bible study group just finished up a study on the life of David (taught by Priscilla Shirer, Beth Moore and Kay Arthur). We are now starting a Kay Arthur study "Lord Teach Me To Pray. So, the two words for the scripture challenge this week, grace and prayer, are so appropriate for me at this time. I'm so enjoying getting into God's word to learn more truths about life. Right now a favorite verse is one I used for the last challenge word: Glad. But he said to me "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses so that God's power may rest on me. 2 Cor. 12:9. Thank you for your wisdom and discernment! And for the chance to win a RAK! What a blessing you are to so many!

Hi Patter,
I just finished reading your post about the new attribute of God as CREATOR. Then I watched the video clip and was totally blown away. I feel like I've been growing by leaps and bounds this year in my faith. Between this study and our church ladies group Connections I've been learning a lot. A favorite verse in the past few months for me has been Hebrews 13:6 "So we can say with confidence, the Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?"
It was a verse that really helped me through after our house got broken into in October. I had come home and the guy was in our house. This verse came up in my daily callendar a week or two after the incident. That's when I started to be ok. Thanks for allowing me to share.

I have always struggled with reading the Bible consistently. The Scripture Challenge has helped me open the Bible on a regular basis. That alone is a gift from God! :)

Thanks so much - I love seeing our Lord work through you and the blessing that you have been to so many through these challenges! I feel like I need to share 3 of my favorite verses!! My first verse that I have loved since I first "trusted" the Lord is Proverbs 3:4&5. My second verse is one I like to share with the girls missions group I help with Matthew 5:16. And my last one is from Esther (I'm doing the Beth Moore study right now!!)Esther 4:14(second part) Have a great day!

Patter, I laughed when I saw what the newest attribute is that you posted: CREATOR. My grandson will be born within the next two or three weeks. The 3-D ultrasound photo of his face made on Jan. 15th is the background on my iPhone.
One of my favorite verses:
Psalm 139:13 (New International Version)
13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.

Bonnie (eggette) said...

Years ago, when I had my liver transplant, and a few setbacks, I screamed at my mother - a United Church minister - from my hospital bed - "Why me!? what did I ever do to have to endure this?" and on and on. My poor mom. She just held my hand and said. "I don't know. I just trust in Him that this is His plan for you." Of course I scoffed at her, and I will never forget that day. I obviously survived and am healthy now. So my favorite scripture is Proverbs 3:5 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding' My mom knew of course, what I did not know at the time. I did my "trust" word with this scripture today.

Mary K said...

My favorite verse has been many through the years but, the one I always come back to in the tough times is Proverbs 3:4&5, I have to trust in him daily. Thanks for the chance to win such a great stamp! PHN

God has definitely been working in me in 2009!! I can feel it and I am so excited about it. I guess I'm just finally tired enough of not growing spirtually that something is getting done. God has given me the strength to step out of my comfort zone several times this year in things such as inviting friends to church, working in new areas at church, and opening up to new people. I can't wait to see what else He has in store for me during 2009.

Patter -- although you didn't know it, thinking about your Challenge early on around Christmas brought to mind those wonderful words from Isaiah and Handel's Messiah "Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace". So when our first word was "Holy" -- all I could think was WOW! Because I'm very hymn-oriented, I've also put a few lines from hymns on my cards, and the first week "Holy" also inspired the lines "Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty; early in the morning our songs shall rise to Thee"...This has lead me in 2009 to be able to praise God every morning, the first thing. I appreciate all you do with these wonderful Challenges.
God Bless.

Here are a few verses I pray:
Create in me a new (pure) heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Psalm 51:10
Teach me Your way, O Lord, and I will walk in Your truth. Give me an undivided heart, that I may fear Your name. Psalm 86:11
And there are so many more!
Thank you, Patter!

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God - not the result of work, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8.

In the last few years I keep coming back to this scripture, so when you gave the word faith, I knew immediately what scripture I would use. Your challenges have given me an opportunity to combine my love of God and stamping. It has given me an opportunity at work to share my faith with some of my coworkers who are always asking me what I am working on.

Thank you for taking the time to bring us such a great challenge.

I have fallen a bit behind but at the same time was searching for the "perfect" verses to use (and have now found them). However, the one that has meant the most to me are the ones I chose for my HOLY page. Psalm 30:20-22 and Psalm 28:2. I was diagnosed that week with a medical condition that rocked my world and came with some life changing stuff. Those verses reminded me that HE is in control and that HE is HOLY.

Although I have studied the attributes of God before, I'm finding that I'm learning a little more this time about who God really is. It's so nice taking the time to really look at different scriptures and ponder the implications. I seem to be drawn so far to verses that talk about God's strength, which I am in need of at this time in my life. I am finding a lot of comfort in the words I read and the God I am getting to know better!

Thanks for the chance to win the awesome gifts!

What a fabulous RAK! I'm doing the His Holy Name challenge and just started the scripture challenge. My favorite so far is Romans 12:8
If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have the gift of kindness to others, do it gladly.
(Kindness)

Basically... I think God has given us all special gifts and we should use these gifts to the best of our ability.

Patter, first of all, thanks for the dedication & time & effort in putting together the challenges for His Holy Name. What a gift they are to so many of us!!

A verse that I go back to over & over is Phil 1:6 "being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." It's a promise that I cling to as I watch my kids struggle in their faith walk. But knowing that God is in control - that He will not let go of them - that He has begun a good work in each of them... wow.... God truly is Sovereign & Protector of my children... a secure place of Refuge & Strength!!!

God has really been speaking to me through this verse:

I lift my eyes up to the hills- where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip- he who watches over you will not slumber.
--Psalm 121:1-3

That verse just hits home for me. I often find that I try to do things on my own and fail because I am not leaning on Him like I should be. Anyway, I just wanted to share that with you. Thanks so much for always sharing your faith with us Patter! God should have all of us and that includes our stamping passions! :D I have found this to be true and have really started changing my blog focus! Thank you!

Thanks for all the time you spend organizing these challenges for us. While I haven't scrapped the HHN challenges yet this year, I've enjoyed thinking thru what my verses will be when I do finally get to scrap them.

The last 6 mos. have been quite a challenge for us. The Lord has been teaching me that I need to surrender MY plans for how things are to be to HIS plans. Of course, I've known this all along, but He reminded me and pointed out areas where I was still holding on to MY plans. I'm so thankful He's so patient with me.

Sarah said...

Well Patter- I am so new to this that I have only done two so far! But, of the two, I have to say that Hosea 14:6 was my favorite, because as I did this study, the Lord took me off the path a bit to where I needed to be! The words in that verse led me to a reminder of what I really, really need to keep in mind right now as I am going through a very painful ordeal. I truly heard Him speak to me and show me His love through this study. Thank you again for all you do to encourage us to keep learning of God's everlasting love, compassion and grace for us!

Hi Patter,

This challenge has been such a blessing to me - how can we be more like Him if we don't know His character? I am also currently following a series of CD's by Joyce Meyer on The Character of God. It is always wonderful to get confirmation of the lessons we need to learn. My all time favourite scripture has to be Matthew 6:33 - "Seek first His kingdom & righteousness and all these things will be added unto to you" How true! Thanks again for your blessing of this challenge in my life. Vanessa

Patter, again I thank you for your challenges and the notes you write in them. They have worked on my heart this past year. I thank God for the people (and books and scriptures challenges!) He has put in my life this past year to help strengthen my faith. Two of my favorite verses: Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. I have always liked that verse; now DH has taught it to DS, 3 yo, and whenever they wrestle, etc. DS is 'caught' until he says that verse, it is so cute!. My other is 1 Samuel 12:16, Now therefore stand and see this great thing which the Lord will do before your eyes. Whenever I am feeling down about circumstances or things that lie ahead, I remember this verse and smile.

What a great post and a great way to see other verses that I may not have seen in a particular light before. I especially liked the commenter who mentioned 2 Cor. 11:26 (thanks, I needed that this morning!).

As for me, my verse would be Psalm 62:8 - "Trust in Him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah." I worry and need a reminder that God is in control and all I have to do is talk to him about my worries and He is there for me. It's not just that particular verse but the whole chapter is meaningful to me.

Thank you for your posts every day - they are uplifting and while I may not actively participate in the challenges, I often utilize them in my cardmaking.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding' is one of my favorite verses and also one I have leaned on myself throughout my Christian life. We don't understand why things happen in life the way we do, but God does, he has a purpose, a reason. I find this verse especially comforting during these difficult, uncertain times we live in. I believe the end of this earthly life is very near when you look at what is happening in the global economy and politics, and Christians need to be ready. We have to put our trust in Him.

I'm so glad I found your blog last year. It helped me on many days reading your posts.I would read them to my husband to help him see how the Lord works.
How I have grown in my walk with the Lord thus far this year?
The beginning of 2008 I knew very little of the bible. With my husband job loss, we really looked at our lives. I joined a bible study, did your Scripture Challenge and really starting understanding the bible. This year my husband and I joined a bible bases class at our church. We are learning so much. I have a long way to go but that is ok because I have begun.

I was really touched by Ezekiel 34:11-16 " 'For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I myself will search for my sheep and look after them. As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness. I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the countries, and I will bring them into their own land. I will pasture them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines and in all the settlements in the land. I will tend them in a good pasture, and the mountain heights of Israel will be their grazing land. There they will lie down in good grazing land, and there they will feed in a rich pasture on the mountains of Israel. I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down, declares the Sovereign LORD. I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak, but the sleek and the strong I will destroy. I will shepherd the flock with justice."

To know that he seeks and cares for me in such a strong and intimate way is a real blessing.

I want to thank you for having such powerful challenges. I have done one so far and it has really blessed me and my life. I never realized when I picked Peace that I would need it so much! The past year I feel like I walked away from my relationship with God. It is so easy to do when you have 6 kids going in different direction, parents who are getting older and sicker and a Hubby who wants most of your time. As I was making my card I realized that I was missing out on a lot of Peace. Peace with my family and Peace with my God.
My verse John 14:27 has really struck a cord within me. Last night I decided to try my hand at scrapping these verses and putting them in a small scrapbook. That way I can some more time praying over this verse and getting closer to my Lord.

(I love Mary's Song)...

OH, how my soul praises the LORD...
How my Spirit rejoices in God my Saviour...
For the Mighty One is Holy, and He has done great things for me.

What amazing verses to praise Him with. HOLY is His Name.

Thanks so much Patter for helping us along with this study. You really have no idea how much your encouragement means to me.

Thank you for this - I have just made my first layout based on the week 5 challenge which has been such an inspiration. I used Psalm 139:13-16 for my layout, but have to say that for me, my walk over the past few months has been all about trusting in God. There are things happening around me that I have no control over whatsoever (sooo frustrating when I am somewhat of a control freak!) so I am learning to trust in God, that no matter what is happening, He is in control, He knows what is happening, He cares, He has a plan for me, my husband and my children, and He holds each one of us in the palm of his hand. Mind you, having said that, these verses in Psalm 139 really struck a chord, becase if God cares that much about me to be intimately involved with my original design and to map out my days for me, than why on earth do I worry about stuff going on in my life? He knows what is going on, exactly how I am feeling, and He has everything under control!

Thanks again Patter for organizing this study and challenge. I'm enjoying the study and being able to do some creative stuff as a result. Looking for new (to me anyway) verses for each of God's names has been a blessing and a reminder of just how great he really is. I find I'm picking all verses from the OT which is unusual for me. I tend to gravitate to the NT, so I think this is good for me. One of my all time favorite verses is Romans 8:28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

2 “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you.

Patter,
I am so excited that I found your blog and your scripture challenges! I have been looking for a way to incorporate my faith with scrapbooking. One of my favorite verses is Romans 15:13, "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." I have learned that little word "AS" has a lot of meaning. It says "as you trust Him" and that is what I have to keep in my heart and mind when God's ways don't make sense to me. When I take steps to trust Him, he then fills me with joy and peace.
I plan to start tomorrow on your challenge and fill in as I have time to catch up. Thank you so much for sharing!

There is quite a bit of comfort in this one.

Hi Patter! What an amazing chance to win your wonderful stamp. :)

I just have to say, I am having such an awesome time with your challenges! I was already enjoying doing the Scripture challenge and then started doing His Holy Name along with it and I am just so thankful to you for them both. When we get new words to study on, getting out my Bible and looking up Scripture after Scripture to find that perfect one for the word is really great...just what I need to be doing. Thank you for sharing your faith and love with us all. It means more than I think you can ever know...

I would have to say that a verse that I've found on this journey that I am really loving is "For I am the Lord, I do not change..." - Malachi 3:6. I had never read this verse before I found it while looking for verses for the word Change. What an amazing treasure to discover! With so many changes in the world today, it's an amazing feeling to know we always have the Lord as our one constant, isn't it?? :)

Have a wonderful, blessed day!!

I am just starting the His Holy Name Challenge...so the scripture i chose was Isaiah 43:1
1BUT NOW [in spite of past judgments for Israel's sins], thus says the Lord, He Who created you, O Jacob, and He Who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you [ransomed you by paying a price instead of leaving you captives]; I have called you by your name; you are Mine.

I am thankful to God for his love me inspite of my past or my sins...Thankful that he created me in His image..

Love Unity Stamp Club but haven't been able to purchase any of their stamps yet,I'd love to win the rak.

First off, Thank you Patter, for doing this. It is really helping us all gain a closer relationship with our true Father. I've been following the challenge and have stopped at Righteous. I really felt like I couldn't do it yet. I felt led to read Job and I have to tell you, I just couldn't get through it. It is taking me forever! Well, today while looking on Bible Gateway I came accross this verse: "The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power; in his justice and great righteousness, he does not oppress." Job 37:23.
I know I'm not the only one feeling the crunch of the econmy right now. So far my family is weathering it pretty well, but it can still be oppressing. Sometimes it's just so hard to trust and give it all to our Father (this is the hardest thing for me), and I've really been struggling with it lately. Well, I think He is trying to tell me that he will not oppress me. Trust Him and give it to him and the "feeling" (because that's all it is) will be gone. Nothing matters but the relationship with the Father.
Sorry, I wrote a novel:-) Thanks again, Patter!

First of all I want to thank you, Patter for organizing and leading us in this bible challenge. By reading all the comments is a blessing in itself. My favorite verse is from Deut. 7:6..."the Lord has chosen you out of all peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession". I will be starting to volunteer at a home for transtioning women & children..and doing scrapbooking...hoping to do something similiar to this challenge. Thanks again Patter!!!

In times of struggle, I have found the passage in Hebrews 13:5-6 to be a comfort and help to me.

'...be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.'

He has the perfect plan for me and my life, and I need to be confident in my faith and trust of him to be content.

Thank you for your guided inspiration in this study.

This is just an amazing combination of Bible study and creativity...God-given creativity! I guess we reflect His image in that. The verses I've been pondering today are from Philippians 4:4-7. "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your mind in Christ Jesus." GOOD STUFF. God bless you all, sisters in Christ!

Patter, I am loving this challenge. I have read the Bible more this year then a lot of other years, thank you for helping me get myself back on track.
My favorite verse has been "Sing praises to the Lord, you who belong to him; praise his HOLY name. - Psalm 30:4

Wow, what a special treat for some of us because of your special treat! Thanks for doing this.
I'm happy to have found your offerings at SCS and am committed to sharing my faith more. Thanks to you I discovered another favorite verse: I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:14. I put this on a page in my new faith album.

God has used this challenge to take me back to the basics and remind me of Whom I am to serve.

The verse that has stuck the most recently is from Romans 1.16-17---
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH."

The "from faith to faith" portion of this reminds me that I must mature and perservere in my relationship and walk with God.
