Several weeks ago, I shared my ribbon storage with you along with links to other storage ideas. Well, what I didn't share was that I had a couple of drawers full of ribbon rolls. I finally purchased more Cropper Hopper boxes and got the ribbon off of the rolls. Look at a drawer before I began: Now, look at the space I made in the drawer by putting all of those rolls into my Cropper Hopper boxes: If you look closely, you can see the three different sized Cropper Hopper boxes I use depending on my ribbon width. And yes, those rolls take up a lot more room than I realized. I also have tried storing my rolls on pant hangers like others have suggested but it never worked for me. So, from now on in my room, all rolls must go! LOL!
The specific Cropper Hopper boxes I use are:
Embellishment box (12 per package): my favorite size that I use the most of!
Mini Squared box (6 per package): love this size for my 1" ribbons; I use a fair amount of these.
Mini Cube box (4 per package): stores my larger ribbons; I don't need many of these.
**Please note: Cropper Hopper no longer manufacturers the Mini Squared or the Mini Cube boxes. However, I have found an alternative. You can see what I use now by clicking here. Thank you!
After sorting this ribbon and organizing it with my current ribbon drawers, here is what my ribbon storage looks like now: Isn't it just a beautiful rainbow? No wonder I am SO addicted! And I just love this storage method. It has worked for me for many, many years. I think this is the one storage method I have not changed because it works so well for me. Prior to getting my Scrap 'n Cube, I stored my ribbon just like this but in iris drawers. It works just as well.
Well, thanks for stopping by, and remember, if you have questions, please leave your e-mail address so that I can get back to you! Have a blessed Friday!

I love this Patter. I'm thinking of (read working up the courage) to take all of my ribbon off the rolls. I should have done it from the beginning. I love your blog and LOVE your friday tips. I've used more than one of them in my space.
Oh..LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea. I am constantly organizing and not scrapping because I'm addicted to making more room for more stuff. BTW - Can I ask...how much did this cost you to do though?
Thanks
Sheila
Thank you everyone! And Shiela, I e-mailed you about the cost but thought I would post here in case anyone else would like to read the answer. Here is what I e-mailed you:
You asked about how much it cost. Well, I really can’t say because I have literally been using the Cropper Hopper boxes for at least 5-6 years so I have collected them over time as my ribbon stash has grown. I always get the boxes on sale though. They were going for $2.99 or more for the smaller boxes of 12 per pack. I hit a great sale at joann.com a few weeks ago and stocked up. You can really start with the smaller boxes because that is what I use the most of, and for $2.99 a pack, you really can do a lot with them especially if you get them on sale. I hope that helps.
Great storage tip for ribbon. My husband made me a Stand with dow sticks-It will hold about 30 rolls and then I keep the rest in jars. i love the vinatge look so I guess I will dig when I need a certain color. Thanks again!! Enjoy your blog.
LOVE that storage! The first photo looks like my ribbon drawer! lol I'll have to get some of those, I didn't know JOAnn's sells them.
Oh Patter I luv luv luv what u did with ur ribbon. How expensive are those Cropper Hopper boxes. Thanks for the inspiration and Congrats on the new DT...can't wait to see ur FABULOUS creations using their product!
OOOPPSS just saw u answered my question in the above post. Thanks !
I love this!!! What a great way to store it! And it looks so pretty, too!
I can see that storing your ribbon uses much less room now! I hope you remembered to save a few of the ribbon spools to make some of those really original spool boxes I have seen.

Amazing!!!! and now I have ribbon envy!
Your ribbon storage looks great- that took patience! Well since you have triplets I know you have patience :)
That is an awesome collection of ribbon. I can't believe how much space you created by storing it properly. Oh to be so organized.
How do you keep track of the manufacturer so that you know who to give credit when you enter your work for publication?
Paula, I cut a small piece of the label off the the ribbon roll and put it in the tiny box. Or I write the manufacturer's name on a small slip of paper and put that in the box. That way I can give credit for the ribbon. :) I hope that makes sense. :)
You know, this looks fabulous! I don't have "real" drawers like this, but I truly love your look of TOTAL organization!

THANK YOU!!! i am always pulling my hair out when looking for ribbon, then give up and don't use it. God has blessed you with such a talent and I am so thankful you share with us :0)
Thanks for this tip, Patter. I will have to stock up on these when I'm in the US this summer. Great idea on using the wooden spools too for the twine. I need to get some of those, too.
This is just BEAUTIFUL!!!!
I have 1 question, did you roll the ribbon up and then put it into the box or fold it or just how???
I just found your site and having a BLAST looking at ALL your Organizational help!!
Thanks so very much, this has been a huge dilemma for me, and I have now ordered 100 boxes...
