Organizational {Friday} Storing Layouts & Unscrapped Photos Together

**Note, if you are looking for the Our Daily Bread Designs Anniversary Blog Hop, please go to the post below this one or click here. Thank you!**

Today I thought we would talk about scrapbook albums and photos! If you missed my previous posts on storing photos, please see my posts here:

**Storing digital photos

Albums
I recently switched to 8x8 albums because my favorite 9x9 albums from CTMH have been discontinued. I am now using the 8x8 We R Memory Keepers three-ring albums in both linen and faux leather. Love them both. I have tried their 12x12 albums but they are just too big for me, and definitely too big to store. The wonderful thing about the 8x8 albums is that WRMK makes 8x8 page protectors and 8x8 photo sleeves. Here are links to all of the 8x8 products I use from Joann.com:

Storing Photos with Layouts
Now let's look at how I am using these to not only store my layouts but how I also store my extra photos after I scrapbook my pages.

First, I scrap what I want--whatever photo inspires me at the time. I do not scrap chronologically. Scrapping photos this way is super easy because of the D-ring album. I can easily insert a page anywhere within the album. I do keep the pages in date order once they are scrapped but as I said, it's easy to insert a page anywhere. I actually scrapped the "snow page" shown here before the layout on the left. Super easy to move things around and add as I need to!
Now for those extra photos I might have from an event but I know I won't scrap them, I just use the photo sleeves within the same album. Here you see my scrapped page on the left and extra photos on the right in the photo sleeves. Each photo sleeve holds 4 photos (2 front, 2 back).
These are photos I don't want to throw away but I also doubt I scrap them. It's nice to have those photos within the same album! I am really enjoying keeping my pages and extra photos together in the same album. I certainly wish I would have done this years ago but . . .

Anyway, I hope you find this way of organizing layouts and photos beneficial! I will answer questions within the comment section as you post them or you can always e-mail me. Thanks for stopping by, and have a blessed weekend ahead!

I like the idea of keeping the extra photos in the same album. I usually put my extra photos that I'm not going to scrap in photo albums, but I'll probably migrate to doing it this way too. With so many different divided page protectors out there now, it's so much easier to add the photos right there. Great tip! :)

Patter...I LOVE every single one of your Organizational Friday posts. Have incorporated MANY of your ideas...not organized yet but it's coming! I just recently bought this album system for the exact reasons you described! Thanks so much for sharing!

I love this idea. It would also be good for holding pics of an event until you get a chance to scrap them. Family could still enjoy them while waiting for the finished production. :)

Ooooh yes! Most certainly Stephanie! I actually did that with our Hawaii photos that are STILL waiting to be scrapped. There are SO many, I am overwhelmed. LOL! :)

Love that idea Patter! I think I'm going to have to try that when I do my next "insert"...right now I have a huge stack of LOs waiting to get stuffed. ;)

what a great idea Patter and do believe I am going to start doing this myself. I haven't used an album other than 12x12, but like the idea of having the capability of moving the pages around, so I will have to see if I can find albums like this in that size; if not, 8x8 may be the new way I store my layouts.

Thanks for sharing these wonderful organizational skills you have with us - you have helped me so much with my craft room :)

Enjoy your weekend.

I started this system 2 years ago, but haven't gotten very far. But I love the WeRMemory Keeper albums. However, I didn't know they came in an 8x8 size. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Patter~
I am currently storing the photos at the end of the scrapbooked photos...I love how this works.

I also use my scrapbook page holders to store the items I want to include on a future page. Sometimes the ideas for a page come when you are in the middle of something else...this helps me remember what I had thought of for this future page! I have a whole 12x12 album full of these sets put into pages. I include embellishments, paper, everything but the adhesive and cutter. I don't scrapbook in 12x12 albums anymore, however, it holds everything so easily!

Thanks for sharing your idea, Patter! God Bless!

Somehow my mind was locked onto the system of CTMH albums - wasn't thinking beyond that system. Thanks for the loving shove out of the box! Let's see...I only have three more albums to use up before I can grow into the idea :) Traci's idea is great too. I'm thinking that will be a great function for one of the extra albums. How great to take that to a retreat! Thanks so much. Love your posts.
