{Faith Journaling} Challenge #113

Easter Sunday, my husband and I passed out crocheted butterflies to everyone that attended Easter services. It has been a tradition at our church for as long as I can remember. The butterfly symbolizes being a new creation in Christ. Attached to the butterfly is a small safety pin so the butterfly can be worn, and there is a small tag hanging from the pin with a verse from 1 Peter (see below). I just love that we do this each year. Women begin crocheting the butterflies the year before since we have 5 Easter services with thousands attending Easter Sunday. It's a LOT of butterflies. :) Today I thought it would be fun to share:

**Describe the Easter traditions that you have at your church?

1 Peter 1:3 "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead."

Enjoy your journaling time, and to see all of our previous {Faith Journaling} questions, please look here. Blessings to you,

What a wonderful idea! I love that and I think I will use that in my Children's Ministry. I know Easter is over and I'm undecided to save this until next year or use it in a few months to teach on the salvation of Christ. It would be great to let the children make them a butterfly, then 1 Peter 1:3 would be the memory verse. As far as our tradition on Easter we (Children's Ministry) just always do a drama or play in front of the church. They did a great job this year, I was so proud of them, as well as alot others. They did a drama to Arise My Love and used the stixs, that we cal our God Rods. It was awesome!

That is a wonderful idea. I also would like to incorporate it. Do you have a picture you could post of the finished product with the tag? What size is the butterfly, what pattern do you use? I get more wonderful ideas from your blog. Thank you! Sherri
