Blue Fern Studios--My First Creation!

Today, I made my debut post on the Blue Fern Studios blog sharing my first creation using their new, amazing chipboard! I am SO excited to be working with Leslie and the rest of the team. The chipboard is truly what I have been looking for for a long time. It's sturdy, and the designs are so intricate and beautiful! This chipboard can truly be used on anything and everything!

I hope you will jump over to the Blue Fern Studios blog and see my post (click here). And don't forget to sign up to get the blog updates too because the rest of the DT has some AMAZING stuff to share! Oh my, is all I can say!!!!

Now, before I share my creation, I must speak personally to my mother. :) Mom, please don't let Dad see this post. I don't think he reads my blog anyway but I know you do. Grab the tissues before you continue on because "I know you." :) :) Love ya!

My precious dad will turn 70 on January 16th. In celebration of his 70th, I created a "70 Things" book for part of his gift. For the cover, I used a Blue Fern Studios (BFS) medallion from the Ornate Medallions set and the arrow from the Icon Set One. This is not a "frilly" creation since it's for Dad. :) Inside the book, my girls and I have listed 70 things we love about him, written notes, etc. The cover includes a crossword he did at our house during Christmas week while he was here. He LOVES crosswords. I scanned the crossword he completed from the newspaper, and I printed it on a grocery bag so it would match the cover. Then I spritzed the awesome BFS chippies with Heidi Swapp tinsel color shine, and then I threw on some black gesso. I also stamped Jan. 16, 2013, on the BFS arrow for his birthday. I pray he likes it.

Patter,
What an lovely tribute to your Dad. I have studied your page up close and you amaze me everytime with the talent and creativity God has given you. Ate the white circles up in the left/right hand corners from the eraser dabbing?
It looks like you Dad has ben straight as an arrow, a morally strong man, with love for his family first, simple pleasures for himself to the side.
You work is outstanding and the love you have for you Dad shows.
You have showcased the Blue Fern chipboard wonderfully well.
Blessed to be a blessing,
Carole

Carole, your post has made me cry this morning. Such sweet, sweet words. I may print this and add to his book. Thank you for your lovely, sweet, beautiful words! You are a blessing to me!

To create the white dots, I put some white gesso on bubble wrap, and then stamped it on the cover. Super easy, fast, and fun! :)

I pray you have a blessed day, and thank you again!

I think your Dad will need the tissues too when he opens up this gift! How fun to include your girls with the project. And what a fabulous idea to include his crossword puzzle. I wish I were a more detailed thinker...you are an inspiration. Would love to see some of the inside, too. MaryH

Fabulous cover for the book such a clever idea using his crossword puzzle as part of it. Im sure he will be sooo blessed by the book and the precious gift of letting him know 70 things you love about him.We don't always let our loved ones know how we really feel, this is a treasure he can look at over and over again :)
