So, how many of you have picked a "word" to focus on this year? I never have. I have never gotten into picking a word. Well, God had different plans for me. A couple of weeks ago, He gave me the word "encourage." At first I thought "I don't want a word." Then the more I thought about it and listened to the Lord, I realized I needed to follow His leading. Anything else of course would be disobedience. So, in following His leading, I have embraced the word "encourage." Well, let me tell you, I have been so extremely blessed by having this word. I look for people each day that God might have me encourage. And I also need to be able to accept encouragement too when it is given to me. It has just been wonderful. It's always awesome how God blesses me when I obey.
In dwelling on this word each day, I decided to scrap it. And what better way to scrap this then to use the new amazing Blue Fern Studios papers. Yes, they are here, and they are utterly gorgeous!! I have been so excited about these papers that in two days I have created three layouts! I never create that fast. LOL! I will share two of the layouts on Jan. 29th but today I wanted to share my "one little word" page using these papers.
I wrote a bit about my word and then I found a quote on Pinterest by Joyce Meyer. Here is what my journaling says:
"One of the best gifts I have been given this month is the Holy Spirit prompting me to focus on the word 'encourage'. Who has He put in my path today that I can encourage? It has been an amazing blessing focusing on this every day and watching what He will do!"
"God has planted greatness in you. Let today be the beginning of a great adventure as you step into the gifts He's given you." —Joyce Meyer
And here is my 8 1/2 x 11 layout:
Blue Fern Studios paper: Boudoir, Calling Cards, In Bloom
Blue Fern Studios chipboard: Shabby Brick Bits (painted with Shimmerz TextureZ crushed coral and Glimmer Mist pink taffy)
Stamps: Hero Arts Painted Circle E5784, Becky Higgins date stamp
Stamp Ink: Adirondack pebble, Archival jet black
Embellishments: Petaloo fuschia wild blossoms and large daisy; Prima liberty daisy, clock, and resin bird; My Mind's Eye Heirloom alpha and word stickers; Studio Calico wood veneer numbers; Tim Holtz mini paper clip and burlap stencil w/Liquitex modeling paste and Glimmer Mist pink taffy; Angora watercolors; cheesecloth; sewing machine
I hope you enjoy my layout and word for the year. And if you are looking for these papers, you can buy them right now at the C'est Magnifique store. Other stores should be getting them in stock soon. :) Thanks for looking, and have a blessed weekend!

A beautiful post my dear....I love the quote by Joyce! I always hear God through her every time I hear her speak or read something she has written! Your word is wonderful! My word this year is "embrace"....on Feb 15th it will be 2 years since I lost my dear husband to brain cancer. I feel God calling me to help my son and I embrace our new existence....we don't always understand our losses of those we love but God's plan is perfect for us and we cannot just get through each day - instead we must embrace it with grace.
Thanks for this, Patter. I do ask God for a word (based upon Debbie Macomber's ONE PERFECT WORD book)each year, and this year's is "believe." The past two years were "listen" and "pray." Some at church refuse to let go of "hope" (and who can blame them?) or "joy" and just add some "trust" or "patience."
You encourage me, and I pray that you will be mightily encouraged this year---must look for some gauze to incorporate in something I make soon...... Jennifer in OH
Beautiful page and words of encouragement for me today. I needed it
Maureen
Patter, do you choose a Bible verse(s?) to go with your theme word for the year? I do. This morning I was reviewing some that I want in my long-term memory, and thought of you when I got to this one with your concept in it twice.
May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who loved us and by His grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good word and deed. 1 Thessalonians 2:16-17
Every good word (ar ar ar) and deed (scrapping? sending a card to encourage??) We are under a severe weather advisory here---I hope you and yours are safe and warm, wherever you are.
Thanks for your posts, and the way you incorporate themes and materials so creatively! These are gorgeous papers---are they in stores or would I need to order online? Jennifer in OH
P.S. Sorry---I couldn't view the webpage while I was on the comment page. I see that you have provided a link to the online store. Perhaps some coffee will wake me up more....
Oh sweet Jennifer. Your post and scripture has encouraged me. LOVE, LOVE that scripture! Why didn't I think to put one on my page? Ugh! I will write it on the back of the layout. Thank you, thank you! I can't wait to note this in my Bible too! You are awesome, and I appreciate you.
And glad you like the papers. The DT just got the papers so stores will need to order and get them in stock. I just know that the C'est Magnifique store has them already. :) Joyfully in Christ,
A really beautiful page Patter , The papers are beautiful ,I will have to check if we can get them in UK. Your flowers are so pretty too. God has given you the perfect word , for you have been encouraging me for the last 3 years through your challenges ! I am always excited to read your posts and see what God has given you for the challenges. Thank you Patter , I think I will see if I have a word too !
I know where you are coming from when you say you 'did not want a word' - I was like that last year and God gave me a word.... I was blessed - as I am already with this years word, that I did not ask for.
Blessings
Maxine
