Art Journal Page {My Guide}

Pin It
Paints: Liquitex gesso, super heavy gesso, matte medium; Angora watercolors; Faber-Castel gelatos; Lumiere pearl turquoise
Stamp Ink: Archival Ink jet black, Tim Holtz Distress Ink black soot and picked raspberry
Stamps: Provo Craft 18 pt roller stamp, SU rollagraph alphabet B, Unity reversed punchinella
Embellishments: Christy Tomlinson Stencil Vintage Lace, Luxe Designs black letter stickers, My Mind's Eye Antique alpha stickers, old hymnal page "My Hope is Built"

Goodness, I have not sat down to do an art journal page in so long. This was so fun. I used a quote from Dr. Henrietta C. Mears. I have used her quotes before, and I will certainly use a lot more. :) And did you notice the hymn I chose to use in the heart? It was perfect for the quote I thought.

The color inspiration came from a catalog cover I got in the mail the other day. I am so glad I saved the cover because I really love this color combo. I will need to use these colors again.

The notebook I used is a Moleskine plain notebook. The pages are really thin so I had to glue 4 pages together to get extra thickness. The reason I used this is because I am giving this to a friend, and she can use the book as a journal. There will only be this one painted two-page spread inside. The rest of the pages are hers to use as she desires. I hope she likes it. :)

Well, I hope you enjoy today's bit of inspiration. Have a blessed Sunday!

Oh, Patter...I love this. I love the quote and I love the hymn. It's so funny because that hymn has been going thru my mind all morning. I actually went to youtube and played it so I could sing along. Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful colors, elements of paint & shapes & text, and the sentiment too of course!

A post of yours some time ago recommended buying joint tape---my hardware store only has a sort of grid stuff, not the little circles, and they call it "drywall joint tape." is there another term? Is it perhaps regional, like "pop" or "coke" or "soda?" Your layout has some painted (?) shapes that reminded me of this matter.

Thanks for posting this; I am certain your friend will enjoy!

Thank you all for your sweet comments! I truly appreciate each of you!!

Jennifer, I went into Lowe's the other day and talked to them about this very thing--can't find the paper joint tape with circles. They said most people are not using that anymore. They are using the new fiberglass mesh tape. I did buy a roll of that and am using that that too but I must say that I LOVE my roll of paper joint tape with the circular holes.

And for the circles I used on this particular page, I used a piece of punchinella and inked over it with Tim Holtz Distress Ink to get the look I achieved. I have punchinella in many different sizes and love it. You can buy packs of punchinella on esty in different sizes. Be careful though--some people charge much higher than others.

Let me know if you have more questions. Have a blessed day everyone!
