Not My Day!

Okay, I like for this to be a scrappy blog but I must post about my incident. This happened about an hour ago, and I am still sick about it! I was backing out of the garage VERY slowly (zero according to the speedometer), and this happened:

But I will rejoice in this day the Lord has given me and be glad! I wasn't in a bad accident. I was in my garage for goodness sake! And as my dh said "at least no one was hurt." Praise God for the blessings in this! Coming soon to a scrapbook page near you--How to Have an Accident in the Garage!

Patter, I showed this post to my oldest DD 14. She has only had her permit for a few months and did something similar. I had a minor surgery procedure done on my toe and couldn't get my foot into a shoe. DH decided he wanted to switch cars around and that Sarah could back my car out and then pull it into the garage after he backed his car out. Of course there was quite a bit of snow and ice on the driveway and she hasn't had any experience with this yet. Needless to say, she hit the side of the garage and snapped the passenger side mirror off. She feels better knowing that this can also happen to an adult

Oh Patter! That sounds just like something I would do! Glad it wasn't anything worse though!

Oh I can soo relate!
DH did that with our van, backing out of the garage, and he has also swiped the gate with the mirror twice!! The mirror now has some lovely green electrical tape over it so it doesn't wobble!

I actually did this to my mom's BRAND NEW car when I was in college. The funny thing was, she had been out of town, called that morning and insisted I tell her what was wrong with her car...nothing was. I get in the car to go to the airport to pick her up, for goodness sake, back out of the garage- take out the mirror, sigh. I still say she put the idea in my head, lol!
Your DH is right- just a car- a hassle, but a car- thank God everyone is all right! And, it really will make a great sb page!

LOL! Sorry I couldn't resist...my mom had done this not once but 3 times. She has also ran through my garage door once.

This can happen to even the best of drivers. I can't wait to see how you scrap it.

I feel your embarrassment. Several years ago, while taking a Suburban full of kids to Bible School, I backed into someone's mailbox. The dent and scratch was there almost a whole year before we got it fixed. It was a constant reminder of my embarrassing moment. But I also hit my side mirror often when pulling up to my mailbox to get my mail. One of these days. . .It's a constant joke in my family because I have a history with mailboxes that date back to when I was 17 years old!

Uh--when you are backing out the speedometer would ALWAYS read zero MPH--you could be going 50 and it would read zero. It is not designed to capture backward speed, rather forward driving speed.

Doesn't look too bad, I'd not get too worked up.

Just wait until your kids drive, that mirror will seems like a walk in the park.
