My Thoughts on CK's Project 365

Okay, so I heard about Creating Keepsakes Project 365 about a week ago. Basically, you take a picture every single day of 2009 and journal a bit about it. Becky Higgin's had kits on sale for the project. I wasn't going to participate but the more I thought about it, I thought about the journal I always want to start and never do. Then I thought, "Wow, a journal with pictures." Hmmm? So, I decided to do it! I did not buy the kit that CK had for sale but here is what I am going to do:

I am taking a picture every single day. Then I am using Basic Grey papers. Goodness knows I have a zillion papers to use up. I will use the plain colored papers and cut them down into 4x6 sheets. I am then decorating with Unity border stamps. The ones I have used thus far are the borders from the Unity Together Forever kit. For the daily numbers, I am using the Unity Amazing Me stamps. I will print the pictures at the end of each month since I use my local HEB for great printing! I journal every single day though. To save my files, I am just naming them by the date. Works great for me.

Here is my Jan. 1st picture followed by my journaling cards for the 1st and the 2nd. I have completed pictures and cards through today (Jan. 3rd).
And here is my picture for today. My journaling card for today is green. Yes, my cards will "sort of match" the day's picture. :)

It is super easy, super fast, and wow, what a journal I will have at the end of the year! I am also thinking of taking select pictures and select journaling and making Christmas albums for family members. It would be an easy gift to complete throughout the year, and probably a treasure. They won't get all 365 pictures, just some that would be meaningful to the receiver! I am now excited about this project! I can't wait to see what it will look like come Dec. 31st! For more information about Project 365, Becky Higgins has a Q&A page here. Maybe some of you will join me in this journey too! Blessings,

This is a great idea Patter. I, too, am going to do the project on my own. I am happy not to get caught up in all the anger going on right now about the kit.

Happy New Year!

I had decided to do the project on my own when I heard about it. I'm like Suzanne, I am so glad that I did not get in all that drama about the kit.

I hope that you will post about your progress as the year goes on. Since I am following your blog for the Names of God project, it will help me be accountable for my 365 project as well.

I am so excited about the challenges you have for us this year. I feel that I am taking my scrapbooking to a whole new level by incorporating it into my Bible study. Praise God for creativity and the opportunity to use it for His glory!!

Thanks, Patter, for inspiring us!
Dana

P.S. I have a brand new blog and I am learning as I go. I can't get the blinkie to work for me. Any pointers on how to do it?

I and my dear friend Cris love the whole concept of Project 365 so we also had decided to do the project on our own, but we just found out her Mom ordered each of us a kit ( she is so kind )so I'm looking forward to receiving it.
I have been taking my pictures every day.

I am so looking forward to the challenges. This year I'm getting in at the very beginning.

P.S. I can't get the blinkies to work on my blog either. I'm gonna keep trying.

Happy New Year
Joyce

Hey girl, I too am doing the project with my own stuff like you. I don't like the limitations of the kit. There are lots of great 4x6 photo albums that could be used for this as well as several companies make the 4x6 refills that hold up to 8 or 6 photos and will fit our 12x13 albums. Not to mention if you scrap 12x12 you could very nicely fit your 7 photos and 7 cards are on double page spread.

Love this idea! Actually, the more I have thought (and prayed) about this...I think I will combine the 2 challenges. I plan to do a simple 8.5x11 scrapbook page with 2-3 pics/snippets, a small journaling block and a Word -leading to a scripture passage that fits the day. My 11 year old daughter is so excited to help me, so I think with our other children it will be a way to show sacred scripture so alive in our daily life. Thanks for the inspiration! God bless you!

Great ideas Patter. I want to do this one too -- on my own like you. What a neat thing to look back on at the end of the year and in years to come. I haven't decided what type of album to use yet but I have taken pics for the first 3 days.
