Announcing {Scripture Challenge 2} for 2010!

I am interrupting my Organizational {Friday} post to bring you exciting news! I am SO excited to announce that I will be leading another Scripture Challenge for 2010. This Scripture Challenge will be similar to the one I hosted in 2008 and re-ran in 2009. In 2008, I used the 7Gypsies ATC holder to hold all of my scriptures for the year. Here is what it looked like when we finished the year: And this year for the His Holy Name Challenge, I created 6x6 pages that I put in a 6x6 We R Memory Keepers album. For this coming year, I am going to use this vertical stand from Taylored Expressions. The stand can be stained or altered and will hold 6x6 page protectors. So, I will be doing 6x6 pages again this year that will hang in this stand. You can certainly create anything you wish for this challenge. These are just ideas. Now let me share a bit about how this challenge will work.
**I will post a word every other Sunday beginning January 3, 2010. Mark your calendars! :)
**Challenges will be posted usually by 5 p.m. Central Standard Time on challenge Sundays.
**My post will also share some thoughts, the scripture or scriptures that I chose, and a picture of my 6x6 page.
**Then you will study your Bible and find scriptures that are meaningful to you based on the word posted for that week.
**I love using Biblegateway to look up single keywords in the Bible. It is a great resource for this study.
**Then you will create an ATC card, scrapbook pages of any size, or card using your selected scripture based on the word for that week.
**Feel free to look at the 2008 Scripture Challenge here to get an idea of how this Scripture Challenge 2 will work.

Is there a time limit to complete the challenge?
No, there is not a time limit to complete the challenge. This is for you! You do what you can when you can. On occasion, I may offer RAKs, and at those times there will be a deadline. Watch out for those. :) You may join this challenge at ANY time throughout the year!

Do I need to sign up?
No, you can just subscribe to my blog to get the updates.

Will this challenge be hosted on other sites?
No. In the past, I have hosted my challenges not only on my blog but also on Faith Sisters, Splitcoaststampers, Create My Keepsake, etc. I have found that it takes up a lot of time to post in multiple places and the participation seems to drop because there are so many "scattered places" to post. So, for 2010, you will only be able to find the challenge here on my blog. So make sure you subscribe if you haven't already. :) And if you have friends that you think may be interested in joining us, feel free to send them the link to this post!

Where can we share our work?
A lot of us will be sharing on our blogs and in various galleries such as Splitcoaststampers, 2Peas, Scrapbook.com, etc. Wherever you share, you can use this keyword and it will help others find your work more easily--Scripture Challenge Keyword SCRC210. I am also going to try to use Mister Linky for this challenge so that you can leave a link to your work here on my blog for others to see. Pray that I can get it to work. LOL!

Is there a blinkie for this challenge?
Yes, but let's call it a button instead of a blinkie. :) I did not make one that blinks for this year. It is a "stand alone" button. You will find it in the sidebar of my blog. Right-click and save it to your computer. You can then add it to your blog, your signatures on message boards, etc. I hope you like it. I purchased the digi kit to make this cute button from The Shabby Shoppe. A great place for digi goodness if you need anything!

How About a RAK!
(Note: This RAK has been awarded and is no longer available.)
I am going to give away this wooden stand to one lucky Scripture Challenge 2 participant. It is slightly different than the one I am using but it still holds 6x6 page protectors and can be altered to match any decor. :)
What do you need to do to win this stand? Leave a comment in the comment section here telling me if you have participated in any of my other faith challenges, if you are new to my challenges, and/or where you have posted the Scripture Challenge 2 button. Comments must be received by Sunday, December 20th at 11:59 p.m. Central Standard time. One winner will be randomly drawn from the comments on Monday, December 21st. This stand will be mailed to the winner so that it is received in time to begin the challenge on January 3rd.

Okay, so I think that is it for now. Please e-mail me if you have more questions. Blessings, and see you January 3rd with our first Scripture Challenge word!

Patty - I started to participate in His Holy Name challenge last year but I was going through a lot of stuff, prepping for surgery in October. Now that is out of the way and I would love to participate in this one...and to win the stand! :)

woohoo! I did the HHN challenge last year, Ok well I'm still behind and its unfinished but i LOVE LOVE what i have done so far (and hope to find time in 2010 to finish it) I think I might even try the scripture challenge too this year...
OH and too funny I was looking for a album stand exactly like this for my HHN album (yes all my pages are still loose waiting for a home...) its weird I had this vision in my head so happy to see someone else did too and was crafty enough to MAKE one!!

I have been doing the HHN challenge. I'm a little behind but plan on finishing the year (even though I might be late) I have kept up with all the studies just not the layouts. I'm about 4 -5 behind :( Thanks for all you do to keep us in the word (and scrapping)! I will be participating in the 2010 challenge!

I did several of the ATC cards and some of HHH and I hung the newest on a rack similiar to this before I put it in the album. I think this is a good idea and I'll be participating. I am caught up with the Faith Journaling, but I also did a picture a day book this year and made a Christmas quilt---and I'm needing longer than 24 hour days this month!!!Blessings

Patter, I'm so happy you you'll be hosting another Scripture Challenge. I participated in your 2008 Scripture Challenge and it has help me so to reconnect with the Lord. In this point in life things have gotten very difficult but going back and reading my 2008 Scripture Challenge has tremendouly helped me. Thank you again! Nilsa

Patter, this is just what I need. I confess that I am a "starter, seldom a finisher" and this sounds like a comfortable and friendly challenge. What could be more comforting that God's Word?
I am also going to do the journal challenge.
Thanks for being a blessing!

Good Morning!

I led our ladies group in the His Holy Name study this year and we thoroughly enjoyed it. My mother-in-law is also a pastor's wife and she heard me talking about it and started 2 groups in her church doing it.

My husband and I are planning on doing the project of our life story and our faith. He told his family about it and the entire family decided to work on the Faithstory project so they can put together a family history for the whole family.

Thanks for all you do.

I haven't participated in your challenge (or any other for that matter), but this just speaks to my heart! I had a rough year last year, and I'm hoping that this challenge can inspire me both spiritually and creatively. Can't wait!

Sounds like fun! Best of both worlds, scrapbooking and the Bible! This will be my first time joining you in this challenge

Thanks Patter for this new challenge for 2010, I did the challenge for 2008 and used 4x6 postal size cards and divided them up at the end of the year and put on metal ring for my 4 granddaughters, they really liked them and I pray they are blessed with them. I got all off kilter for 2009 and did not get done what I wanted so am looking forward to doing the 2010 challenge.....
Blessings and peace and love of Jesus, remembering that Jesus is the reason for the season of Christmas........

I am excited for your new challege! I have tried to start a few of your challenges over the past few years. None quite stuck but I think that was because I tried to create pages for each word. This year I am going to try the smaller ATC cards. I am hoping this will help me stick with the challenge. Blessings!

ps I put the challenge picture and link on my blog. :)

Hi Patter - I watched the Word challenge for the latter part of 2008, and then have participated in the HHN challenge on SCS this year (only 1 page behind, and now the Christmas cards are done...) I Have put the blinkie on my blog
here (http://kiwimeskreations.blogspot.com/ - I haven't figured how to abbreviate the links yet.)

I would love to win the stand :-) This is what I had in mind for my HHN pages from the start. I have them on large rings at the moment and was going to hang them on the wall to dispaly them.

Glad to hear your DH is doing better at long last.
Blessings

WooHoo!!! I did the 2008 Scripture Challenge and loved doing it. I have saved all the HHN challenges and will do them when things sow down for me in my life. I will be joining you in the 2010 challenge. I really learned alot from the last one. Thanks Patter sooo much for doing this challenge. Can't wait to get started.

I am so glad you are doing this again. I kept meaning to do it too, but never got started. I can't believe the year is almost over. Thanks for a second chance.

I am very inspired by your challenges. I started the word one in 2008, continued in 2009 and am still not quite done. Maybe 2010 will be the lucky year! Thanks for your inspiration. debbiewall@albertacom.com

I was first introduced to your blog when you were still designing for Unity and saw that you had started a Scripture challenge, but never got back 'round to joining the challenges. I'm finding that I'd like to do more with my faith in my papercrafting, so I thought I would give this challenge a serious try. I've never done a Scripture challenge of any kind before.

Beautiful RAK - thank you!

I have wanted to do this challenge since the first year, now I am in a place to be able to participate! I love your blog and your creativity is boundless.
Thanks for hosting this again. And what a beautiful RAK!

Terry said...

Patter, I have not participated in your past challenges, but am looking forward to this one. 2009 has not been the best year for me. Perhaps by putting more focus on my spiritual self, 2010 will be a better year overall. Thanks for this challenge!

Dana said...

I am so excited that you are doing this! I have been searching for a project to do throughout the year and this will be it! I did HHN with my own twist to it, and it was so meaningful for me. I really studied God's names and the scriptures that talked about them and learned so much. I love to scrapbook, but I also love a project that isn't photo-driven and lets me really let my creativity soar. And learning about the Lord is the best bonus I can think of! God bless you for doing this!

I am so glad you are doing this again! It is wonderful to mix my faith and my crafts.

Patter, I have been so blessed by the HHN challenge this year! Someone mentioned what a wonderful combination scrapbooking and studying God's Word makes and I would agree with that!! His creativity is what comes through us and to Him be all glory!
I'm also trying to do the journaling project at CPC with a couple women from my church. I am thinking of doing the Scripture challenge and appreciate the RAK. God bless and pray your dh is back to 100% soon!

Patter, I started the first Scripture Challenge in 2008 and never was able to complete it due to our lives "becoming a snowglobe that someone just kept shaking" as our daughter aptly put it. I like the every other week format of this new one and want to give it another try. I'm really enjoying the Faith Journal challenge and am encouraging my dh to participate as well. :)

Oh, I forgot to tell you that I posted about this challenge & the Faith Journal challenge on my blog & also posted the button. :)

I wanted to participate in the 2009challenge but didn't even get started due to wedding planning that took up every second of my free time. I am looking forward to participating this year! I can not wait to get started!!!!

beautiful work and beautiful blog, Patter. I personally am partial to the idea of doing this new year's challenge as ATCs. Several reasons, 1.I will actually do them 2.I already do a ton of "pages", 3. They are easy to give away! 4. I put several in a frame and display or give away. :) so thank you for what you are doing!!

Anonymous said...

Patter -- I can't wait!!! I loved the Scripture Challenge, and used ATCs also. I think I'll do the same thing, because I really enjoyed it so much. My granddaughter, who is now 2-1/2 loves to look through my previous 7Gypsies ATC holder with the scripture cards, so we'll probably do this next one together.

EFY said...

Patter, This will be my first time to participate in one of your challenges. I look forward to it even though I am so new to scrapping. I already have been doing a little with verses in a 4x6 format to be put in a photo brag book for someone who just really needs encouraged right now.
I also plan to do the journal challenge with a group of ladies I teach. We'll be a little behind as we'll start after the first of the year. Can't wait for both! Blessings

Stacy said...

I haven't done any of your challenges yet, but now that I'm doing more digi-scrapping than paper (easier to do when you're sick, which I tend to be a lot), I can see actually finishing a whole challenge like this! I also love the idea of being able to use whatever Scripture verse I want to as long as it goes along with the challenge word. Very cool! And I love the stand idea for display -- 6x6 is one of my favorite sizes for projects like this! Thanks for following God's lead in hosting this new challenge! Can't wait for it to start!

Dear Patter,

Thank you for sharing so much of yourself when you emailed me at my home address about Holiday cards and my Athiest husband. Your suggestions were right on! I don't know how it happened, but you thought I was brand new to the Lord. I converted from Judaism when I was 29. I am 44 now. Thank you for the great reminders. Pray, pray, pray. That seems to be His answer for me about anything.

I want to join your scripture challenge of 2010. I have not done any challenges like this-ever. I am joining the Splitcoast Stampers 2010 Christmas Card Challenge.

I do not have a blog, a job or anywhere to post the items for your challenge. Or, am I confused about this?

I have a question about "feedblitz." Does it or your scripture study cost anything? Can you please let me know what that site is for?

I am very excited about this challenge. I have a personal love of learning the names of our Lord. I have a book on it, if you would ever like to borrow it. Very easy read. I used it as a basis for a Sunday School class curriculum.

In your challenge will we be required to use certain brands of items?

Is there a way to see how people are answering the "journal" questions? I am curious about the answers. Such good questions!

You are an incredible person! God will reward you for witnessing to so many! Your courage is inspiring!

Would it be appropriate to make bookmarks that fit the theme, and then include them in Holiday cards in December?

Do you still have my email address? (Can you please answer that question ASAP.) I can't post it for the world. :(

I leave in the morning for a flight to Texas. My son is getting married and graduating with his PHd. this weekend. I will be home LATE Sunday night. I hope to check emails during the week, but unsure if I will have time.

Patter, thank you again for your committment to the Lord and to strangers who happen to comment at your site about a personal dilemma...that you would even take your own valuable time to remind someone of the basics.

God Bless You, and remember...
He IS Able!
Traci

p.s.Would my name be Traci S. in here also? It would probably be easier for other visits-- so much cross-over with Spacecoast Stampers. Thank you again!

Oscar, yes, I will be helping people along the way. You can certainly e-mail me or post questions in the comment section of the challenges, and I can answer there. Whatever works best for you. :) Glad to see you joining in too!!!

And for anyone that would love answers to all of the questions Traci posted above, let me know, and I can certainly post my reply here. I e-mailed her directly.

I am so excited to see so many of you joining in. May the Lord bless each of you as you study in the coming New Year! Blessings,

Patter,

I have participated in both the scripture challenge and His Holy Name. I am looking forward to pressing farther on with this new challenge. I am thankful for the Lord leading you to do all of the challenges and reminding us just to jump in. Finishing the challenge is important but the quality of time and effort we spend on what we do do, is even more important.

I am so looking forward to this journey. Thanks. Loretta

It's so funny that I found this challenge, only because I've got such a thirst for the Word and was hoping to find a way to combine that and my hobbies. "It's not odd, it's God" as my grandmother would say. Perhaps I was led to your site. :)

Anyway, I love the every other week idea as I might actually be able to keep up.

Thank you and looking forward to it!

I participated a while ago over at FaithSisters. Then fell behind. Part of my new year is to do them again. I will be including it in my project 365 photo's. So at the end of the year I think it would be wonderful to have that be on one of my photos for that week....... or is this a 52 week? If so I'll have 52 in my project 365 book that I have printed up. Thankyou for your inspiration! Looking forward to learning more with the words posted in the year to come.

All my photos for 365 and layouts from them will be posted on my blog.

I will also post this challenge there with them.

Im so excited to start! Thankyou so much for hosting this again!

Hi, Patter! I am very new to your blog and I love the ideas and inspiration you share with us. I was wondering if you had thought about starting a Flickr group for everyone to post their Scripture Challenge 2010 layouts on? I am very interested in doing this challenge for the first time and thought it would be so neat to share all in one place, leave comments and be encouraged to share that growth in Lord's Word. It may not work out for whatever reasons but thought I would ask anyway. Flickr is very easy to use. Thanks!

Patter Cross said...

Delaina, glad to have you joining in with us! And I have tried a Flickr group before, and it just didn't work out. I am sorry. The Mister Linky is really working well! This is actually the best option I have ever used before. People can post to the place they choose, yet we can easily see thei post and leave comments. I hope you will check out everyone's work via the Mister Linky icon posted above my signature in the first challenge post. There really are some great creations posted already. Can't wait to see yours too. Blessings,

Although I did not participate in the challenge last year, I did check frequently for inspiration and insight. I am being led this year to participate - and would love to put "Mr Linky" on my sight, but I must be really computer unable because when I do the whole right click thing, it pastes your whole page on top of my page... any suggestions or could you just email me the link to copy and paste? I am going to try a few more options, but ...
Thanks for Blessing me with this!
Wishing you a blessed day
Molly

Patter Cross said...

Hey Molly! So glad you are being led to participate this year! And as far as Mister Linky, you do not put it on your site. You need to go to the gallery page or your blop page where you have uploaded your creation, copy the weblink of that page, then come over to my blog, open Mister Linky by clicking on the icon above my name and pasting your link into the boxes along with typing your name and click enter. Then everyone will be able to click on your name, it will take them to your creation where they can see it and hopefully leave you some love. :)

I hope that makes sense. If you look at Mister Linky on my blog, it says on the icon, "click to add your link." That's it. Super easy and fast. You click that same icon to find everyone else's work too.

Let me know if you have more questions. Blessings,
