Our Daily Bread Designs {Challenge 30}

Happy Saturday! Are you ready to create? How about another fun challenge from the ODBD Challenge Team? This week the team is challenging you to make your creations white and bright. Use all white on your card except for your stamped image and embellishments. That means no designer paper unless it is all white.

Wow, did I have a time creating this card. Not using any color or patterned paper was a challenge for me. So, I grabbed my SU re-inkers and went crazy. I started by dropping dots of ink all over my Memory Box Soire paper. Then I misted it and moved around my paper to get the ink to drip all over. One of my daughter's walked in and said "What are you doing with that?" I could tell from the tone she wasn't impressed. LOL! I told her to just wait and see. Well, after drying, I stamped it with the Light of the World set. I then cut it out with the new Spellbinders Beaded Oval die. I think the effect turned out pretty neat, and I had fun making a true mess!
Papers: Cut Cardstock Perle cs, Memory Box Soiree, misc. vellum
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs Light of the World
Stamp Ink: SU reinkers creamy caramel, not quite navy, and old olive, Palette noir black
Embellishments: Spellbinders Beaded Oval die, misc. ric rac and satin ribbon, Cuttlebug textile embossing folder, Zva Creative pearl flourish, Hero Arts pearls

Patter - just gorgeous. Love the techniques you used and the white background really makes the image pop! Seeing the lighthouse upped my anticipation for my upcoming vacation in Maine. Thanks for sharing your beautiful card this morning!

I hope your daughter likes the finished product, because it is elegant. I had not seen that spellbinders die, it is perfect for your theme and I love the ric rac addition. You have found a whole new talent in "white" cards!

Hi Patter~

What a wonderful white card! I love the finished look! Just so I understand, if you don't mind...you put the drops of re-inker onto vellum? Is that right? I love the effect you have here.

I love the finished card! Thanks for letting me know!

Thanks everyone! And no, Traci, I dropped the re-inker directly onto the cardstock. I have a tutorial up here for another card I made. This tutorial shows exactly how to do it:

Let me know if you have questions after that. The only difference between this card and the one in the tutorial are the colors of re-inkers I chose. The vellum on this card in only on the outside of the die (the bumps). I cut out the center of the vellum and only left the bumps. Does that make sense? :) Blessings,

Beautiful card, Patter! Thanks for sharing your ideas (and imagine---even an admission that there are some materials you don't enjoy working with) with us.

I have just been blessed with some fabric samples that were discontinued (used to be for draperies or upholstery). I am happily pawing through them, and there are even paper samples, perhaps originally for wallpaper.
These were going to be thrown away.

Are they safe for scrapbooking? Might I just use for cardmaking?
How to know? Also, I know that you keep your trust sewing machine at the ready, but for some of us who don't sew much, how tricky is it to sew fabric onto paper or cardstock? Or even paper onto paper, or ribbon, as you do?

A loyal reader who only found you online this summer, I've just finished catching up on your "backblog" and enjoyed it. Thanks again for the inspiration.

May God bless you and yours---Jennifer in Ohio

Oh sweet Jennifer, you always have such beautiful words to say! Thank you! And I would love to answer your questions in a Tuesday's {Tip} post. Would that work? I think it would be beneficial for all of the readers to see. I can change my schedule around and post it this Tuesday if that would work. Can you wait a couple of days?

And thanks for everyone's comments today. Y'all have truly blessed me. And sorry I don't always respond. I am so swamped always but love sharing with all of you!!!! Blessings to all!

Dear Patter, Please don't feel the need to re-arrange your schedule for me. The books of fabric samples will wait, and so will I, happily anticipating a Tuesday Tip whenever you get around to it. I'm certain others would love to know some specifics for incorporating fabric in our creative efforts.
