Week 2 {ODBDLYLS11} Scrapbook Challenge

So, have you seen the new November scrapbook challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs? If not, your scrapbook challenge for November is to create a layout of any size and any theme using ODBD stamps and this photo as inspiration. Use any or all of the colors. Feel free to add basic colors such as brown, black, or white, and have fun with it!

Using the above photo, I created an 8x8 layout of my husband. This photo was actually taken on Christmas Day last year but I decided not to make this into a Christmas page. I really thought the photo looked like it could have been taken any time of year, and the colors were perfect for the color challenge. And the precious little puppy is my parent's adorable dog! Now that girl has some spunk!

To make the background on my page, I used the He Shall Be Called background stamp. Because background stamps can sometimes be hard to use, I also used the AWESOME acrylic block sold at ODBD called Mega Mount. Wow, does that make using background stamps super simple! I also used a scripture from the Scripture Collection 7 stamp set. The papers are My Mind's Eye Breeze and Sunshine.

Papers: My Mind's Eye Breeze and Sunshine, Paper Trey Ink cs
Our Daily Bread Designs Stamps: He Shall be Called, Scripture Collection 7
Stamp Ink: Jenni Bowlin brown sugar and seed packet
Tools: Mega Mount, Creative Memories 1" circle punch
Embellishments: Authentique Diction stickers, Making Memories acorn acrylic paint, misc. burlap, Paper Trey Ink buttons, Tim Holtz paper clip, sewing machine

To see more information, on the challenge and to join in with a chance to win a $20 gift certificate, please see this post here. The challenge runs through Wednesday, November 30th, at 6 p.m. Eastern. You can enter as many times as you like, and I hope you will join us! Have a blessed day, and happy scrappin'!

Patter, I'm just lovin' your layout. Everytime I look at it I see another design elemnent that I love. The corrugated paper and the burlap give this page a great manly feel and it ties in so wonderfully with the photo.

What a beautiful page---I love the photo, the background & Bible verses, and the way you've tied it all together with textures & shapes. Maybe I am too literal (thinking inside the box?), but is the color of his shirt echoing the color of the gourd in the inspiration photo?

I'm one of those people who doesn't always follow the way someone has flipped or altered a sketch, either. The crimped paper that looks like corrugation--did it come in those colors, or did you ink it somehow?

Thanks for the beautiful work!!

Love, Jennifer in Ohio

Hey Jennifer! You got it--the shirt matches the gourd. :) And the crimped paper is actually corrugated cardboard that I painted after tearing it. Super fun. Have a blessed week, and as always I appreciate you sweet friend!
