{HSCRC12} Update & RAK!

Hello wonderful blog readers! I needed to update you on the Hymn and Scripture Challenge. After our last challenge, my husband was offered a wonderful job opportunity 1,200 miles away from where we live now. We are in a scramble cleaning out and getting ready for the big move. My house and myself are a bit in a disarray. We have been in this home for 14 years so needless to say, there is a lot of cleaning to do! Anyway, I will not be able to post today's challenge. I hope to post one next Sunday! I pray you understand and that you will use this time to catch up if you are behind in our studies.

I also thought I would give away (2) copies of The One Year Great Songs of Faith: 365 Devotions Based on Popular Hymns.

It's a wonderful book! All you have to do to win is leave a comment sharing what God is showing you through your study time and/or a great tip for moving my scrapping supplies! Leave your comment here by Saturday, May 12th, at 11:59 p.m. Central, and I will randomly choose two winners and announce on Mother's Day!

Thanks for stopping by, and may God bless you in the week ahead!

My Bible studies have led me to contemplate "waiting on the Lord" these days. For a control freak like me, it's a challenge.

And as for your supplies... tub them. And then label them and you are ready to put them in their next home. Just use roller drawers or clear tubs that are not too big/small. And use that labeler till it smokes!

I thank the Lord for the strength, comfort and joy that He provides thru His Word...lately I feel He is asking me to still myself and know Him simply for Himself, not what He can do for me..Blessings to you and your big move!! I've been at the same home since we were married 20 years ago...and I often think how in the world would we move all this stuff...thinking of you!! Becky J abcjones@comcast.net

My prayers are for God's blessings to be with you regarding this new endeavor. I enjoy your hymn segments so much. I thank God so much for his influence on my life and His blessings despite my sometimes failed attempts. I could never earn His "gift" and thankfully, do not need to rely on my own accomplishments. I am truly blessed and I count you as a part in that.

God's Word continues to show His amazing love, grace and mercy for me.

Will be praying for your move and all of the to-do's that go along with that.

I moved about six months ago and here is what i found/did...
-don't make your boxes too heavy (so easy to do with craft stuff!)
-label, label, label
-if you can keep your things in your storage/display containers, do it. just box it all up as one 'item'

Blessings to you and your family with this big change to your lives. My suggestion is the tub for packing your craft items and a big collection of Sharpies to label them. When we moved,I had different colors for each item of importance.{OPEN ME FIRST SORT OF SYSTEM}•Hope this helps.

May your family be blessed by this opportunity and thank you for the chance to win a great devotional book. It would be great to work through during some quite time with our Father.

The last Hymn was one that really spoke to me as I was going through a time of doubts ( first time in my walk with the Lord ). So "I Surrender All" really spoke to me and helped me get back on track.

I do not have any packing tips - other than make it a time to get rid of things you never use.

May your packing and moving all go smoothly for you.

God Bless
Anne-Marie

May you find peace amidst all the work you have to do, and thinking of the hymn Christ Arose may His resurrection power fill you all with energy and joy. It will certainly give us time to catch up with our challenges , we will be glad to have the next one when you have done all you have to do!

The Lord be with you in all phases of this journey. It is a major upheaval even when it is a good move. Label every box and when unpacking double check all the 'packing' materials so nothing is lost.

Well Patter, congratulations on the new job oppourtunity for your husband! I will be praying for you in the next weeks. Girl need more info like where are you going? How are the girls doing with this? But it can wait until a later date.

By the way, I am loving this new challenge and enjoying the time I spend looking for just the right verse to go along with the hymn. God is showing me so much through this study. I am always looking forward to the next week just to see which beautiful song God lays on your heart for us to hear! Blessings dear sister.

Hi, Patter! I've been wondering how you were, and hoping/praying that it was a "good busy" and not an "overwhelmed illness" or trouble. I take it that your husband's new job opportunity is a positive, and will join in praying for your new home, church, friendships, and all the countless details. My husband and I are using that very book in our evening devotionals together this year, so skip me in the drawing but I'm rooting for whoever wins them to be BLESSED. 7-year-old daughter got her feelings hurt in children's church yesterday because "___said she hates to sing." Poor little darling, ours loves to sing so much that it hurts when someone else won't!
Praising God for all this new move will bring in blessing you and others, and praying for the strength you'll all need in the process. "Speak, O Lord, for Your servant is listening." 1 Sam. 3:9-10 --Jennifer in Ohio

My children are 22 and 24 and God has shown me (once again) that they belong to Him; that they have free will, just like me; and that the best thing that I can do for them as adult children is pray for them.

I love getting re-acquainted with the old hymns of the faith, which really aren't old! My grandfather's favorite was The Love of God, and I can still remember him humming the tune, (and he's been gone for 30 years!)
I have moved so many times in my life, my "saying" is "everyone should move every 5 years, because you would not save any junk!" Label, label, label! I just moved 1000 miles away a year ago, and it has been wonderful in most ways.

Hello Patter! I enjoy your blog so much, I usually end up reading your site about 1:00AM. I am praying for you in this huge move you are about to undertake. I pray for your family, that everyone will be able to adjust to a new life with ease and that most importantly, you find a church quickly. Reading God's word and really LISTENING to the wonderful Christian music has really been helping me to learn patience, love, acceptance, and that He is always there, holding my hand and lifting me up. My husband was diagnosed February 1 with stage 4 terminal rectal cancer, which has spread to the liver (over 2/3 of the liver is taken over) and both lungs. He has been given 6 - 12 months. I have been reading so many devotionals, looking for a way to calm my fears, to be there for my three children, and my husband. Reading the lyrics of the songs while they are playing on my IPod has really given me a new perspective into my own long surpressed Christian longings, to follow more closely with God, to be a stronger christian and to know He has plans, and that I don't always have to like them.

Congratulations to you and your family on this new adventure! I am so curious where you will be moving. I will be praying for a simple move, that everyone lifts everything properly...so that there are no back injuries. And, that the girls, make that young-ladies, and Mom and Dad adjust easily.

It will be great to see your new photographs from your bike rides. Patter, I know you consider everything prayerfully, so I am sure that this must be in His plan for you. And, you will have ample opportunities to share about Christ Jesus as you do today. Just think...you get to re-set up your craft room again!

Thank you for the amazing book give-away. Please count me in.

And, Patter, if there is anything
I can do...specific requests, moving cards for people...please let me know.

Remember~ He IS Able!

Oh, Patter! What an exciting adventure for you and your family! We moved often when I was a child, and my parents always made it feel like it was the most exciting event EVER!! There was never a sadness at what we were leaving behind...only a joy and anticipation of what God had in store for us!
That is still what God is showing me today! Life is an adventure to be lived in JOYFUL ANTICIPATION!!...Nancy :o)

Prayers to you and your family as you move and begin a new chapter. Our family is facing a similar situation and I'm really struggling with it all. The thought of packing overwhelms me!! Plus leaving close family and friends saddens my heart. But I know I serve a mighty God and He has amazing plans. Just gotta keep trusting in Him! Every minute of every day.
