Saturday's {Scripture} Tag #2

This week my girls had their second horseback riding lessons. They used to figure skate but we do not have a rink nearby in our new town. So, we are trying horseback riding. Before their first lesson, I was sharing with them about tacking up and putting the bit in the horses mouth, and they were surprised by the bit. I had taken lessons in England in the 1970's, and I have had fun explaining things and relearning myself with them again. Anyway, when looking in the Bible, we came across this scripture:

James 3:2-3 "We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check. When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal."

I did not remember that there was a scripture was in the Bible that talked about a bit in a horses mouth. So, that is my scripture tag for today. And I need to remember that a bit is small in a horses mouth yet it can steer such a large animal. The tongue in my mouth is small yet it can be used to build up or destroy. How do I make sure I keep my tongue in check?

Hi Patter: I remember to allow God to keep my tongue in check by quoting this scripture every morning: If any man among you seems to be religious, and bridleth not his own tongue, but deceiveth his ownself, this man's religion is vain. James 1:26

It doesn't mean that I have the strength and knowledge to always control my tongue. It helps me to keep God on my mind throughout the day, and to yield to him when his spirit is working in me.

I like the way you used a ticket stub in your tag collage. God bless you and yours.

Patter I thought I had commented on this but guess it did not take. I love your scripture tag and love the verse you used. How great for the girls to be taking riding lessons and be able to associate it with a bible lesson at the same time.

Dear Patter, You are such a great Mom to your triplets!! You are so motivated to please the Lord in all of your ways. I loved the tag example and also the pictures of each girl on their horseriding lessons. Thank you for always taking time for "us" so we can learn through you, also!!

Sincerely,
Gina
