Tuesday's {Tip} Sheet Music

Have you ever wondered where people get the sheet music that you see on cards, layouts, altered creations, etc.? There are some scrappy companies that make paper and sell it but I don't personally care for it plus it is expensive. I love the look of an older piece of music.

Today, I wanted to share with you what sheet music I use for my creations. I LOVE to use old hymnals. At first, it bothered me to tear them apart but now, I am okay with it. And I get my hymnals free from Paperback Swap. If you missed my post about Paperback Swap last week, see my post here. I do a search on "hymnal," and all of the available hymnals show up. I have gotten some from 1933, 1940, and my latest is from 1969 (the year my younger brother was born). These also make GREAT gifts for your scrappy friends!

My dear friend Laura of Layers of Color uses sheet music a lot too. I e-mailed her last week to tell her where I get my sheet music, and I was suprised to learn that she uses hymnals too but she gets hers from thift stores. She said they have cost her anywhere from $0.99 to $3 or so! Such a great idea too. So, check those thrift stores!

You can also find old hymnals on eBay. Most are very cheap also but watch the shipping costs! And I had to laugh because I ordered an old Bible encyclopedia from Paperback Swap (free) and I found the EXACT book on eBay for $47! I plan on using the Bible encyclopedia for my cards and creations too!

So, if you are looking for something fun to add to your creations, look into getting an old hymnal! Enjoy, and happy Tuesday!

Thank you for this post. I have been looking for this exactly recently. I've been looking for "Silent Night" and didn't know where to start. Your timely post has given me some direction. Thanks.

Good Idea.Thank you for who and what you are to all of us who follow your blog. I bought an old dictionary and half price book store, ($3.00) I still have some of our folks old hymnals, but think I'd rather buy one for tearing up. I enjoy doing your Faith journal so much.

(you can change the search to fit your need.. I did piano music because I also wanted to play what I printed!)

It's awesome! I've printed out my own sheet music for my scrapbook pages. :)
