Organizational {Friday} Wine Rack Storage

Okay, did the title get you? No, this post is not about organizing your wine collection. I don't drink so I don't have any of that to organize. LOL! Anyway, my precious sister gave us a wine rack she didn't use several years ago. My hubby used it for a while for his sparkling water and a couple of wine bottles but in our new house, there is a built in wine rack in the kitchen. So, no need for this little beauty. Of course, I decided to recycle this one, and I thought I would share with you how I have used it. Sis, I hope you like what I have done with it. :)

The wine rack sits on top of my new fabric storage that I shared with you last week. If you missed that post, click here. I knew I wanted to put pencils and smaller things in cups on this wine rack but I didn't have any cups. I tried one of our plastic cups from the kitchen and it almost fit as I wanted it to. So based on the diameter and length of the cup I had, I headed to Target. The kids thought I was nuts measuring a cup. LOL! At Target I found a clear, plastic tumbler that was a tiny bit longer and a tad wider. Perfect--exactly what I needed. I purchased 10, and here is how they looked in the wine rack:

Just the perfect fit! I filled the cups with colored pencils, wooden embellishments such as spools and Scrabble letters, and also measuring tapes. This is the perfect storage for these items, and I think it looks pretty too. Here it is filled:

I am sure you can find a wine rack inexpensively at a local Good Will or other thrift store or maybe you have an old one lying around. Have fun organizing, and I hope this has been helpful! Blessings to each of you!

Tuesday's {Tip} Hymnals

In October 2009, I posted a tip on where I find my sheet music for my paper creations. If you missed that post or have forgotten, please click here. Anyway, I found a new book this week that I love, and I wanted to pass it on to you.

In my passion for old hymnals, I came across a book titled "Crusader Hymns and Hymn Stories" by the Billy Graham Team. Well, I wasn't sure what this book was so I ordered one from Paperbackswap since it was free. It came in the mail this past week, and I must say "what a find."

The book is 288 pages long, was published in 1966, and contains not only the sheet music for many hymns but in the front there are many hymn stories to go with the hymns in the book. Some of the stories are written by Billy Graham and others are written by members of his team. There are 158 pages of hymn stories and the rest of the book contains actual hymns. Oh it is a wonderful, wonderful book. There are more of these books available on Paperbackswap, and I have seen some on amazon.com for less than $1. It really is a book worth looking into!  Have a blessed Tuesday!

{HSCRC12} Hymn #10, When we all Get to Heaven

Hymn Challenge #10: When we all Get to Heaven
Words Written by: Eliza E. Hewitt
b. June 28, 1851; d. April 24, 1920

Music Written by: Emily D. Wilson
b. May 24, 1865; d. June 23, 1942

Eliza E. Hewitt was born, lived, and died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was a teacher; however, very early on she had to leave teaching due to a spinal problem.  She lived most of her life as an invalid, and so she turned to hymn writing. Her cousin, Edgar Stites, was also a hymn writer.

While Ms. Hewitt wrote the words to this hymn, it was Emily D. Wilson that set the words to music. Mrs. Wilson was the wife of a Methodist pastor and District Superintendent of the Methodist Philadephia Conference, John G. Wilson. I could not find much information on either of these talented ladies but I hope you enjoy these bit of notes anyway.

This is a hymn I had never sung nor heard until we visited a church in our new town. My mother told me she used to sing it as a teen. Who would have known? Anyway, I loved this hymn and felt it would be the perfect hymn to get us started again with this challenge. This hymn reminds me a lot of "Christ Arose" which we studied back in hymn lesson 8.  The chorus of this hymn says:

"When we all get to heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
We'll sing and shout the victory."

It has been a rough, rough few days around here with issues involving property lines. My husband and I are trying to do the right thing as God would want us to but the heartache it is causing me is beyond words. We want to show the love of Christ but others are upset. I am saddened and just want to love those I come in contact with. When I read and sing the chorus of this hymn, I just think of that amazing day when there won't be any heartache or disputes but utter and amazing rejoicing!! Can you imagine "when we all see Jesus, we'll sing and shout the victory"! Oh I can't wait for that day!

What issues are going on in your life right now? What are you and/or your family struggling with? Do you feel like you are at the end of your rope? Well, not only can we be excited about that time when we finally meet Jesus in heaven where there is no more heartache, we can also rejoice right now! Jesus died so that we might have access to the Father not just by going to heaven someday but that we have access to Him here and now. He is there waiting to hear from you. He is waiting to carry your burdens. He desires that daily relationship with you and wants to hold and guide you. Are you letting Him or are you trying to take it all unto yourself? If you are a control freak like me, that can be hard to put "self" aside and ride behind Jesus. But our days should begin and end with God. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.

Revelation 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Revelation 21:6 "He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life."

Revelation 22:13 "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End."

We need to present ourselves as a living sacrifice to Him daily. We can rejoice with Him everyday as we watch what He can do if we would just allow Him.

Romans 12:1 "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship."

Philippians 4:4-7 "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Look how God used Ms. Hewitt's health problem for His great purpose. As an invalid, she was able to write beautiful hymns including "When we all Get to Heaven." How might He be using your situation for His glory?

Below you will find the sheet music to "When we all Get to Heaven," and click here to get the pdf file to print this hymn. Also, be sure to check out the link I have below for you today.

Here you can listen to a country version of this hymn by Brad Paisley.

For my 6x6 page today, I used the Philippians verse mentioned above. While this hymn is about when we get to heaven and can rejoice with Jesus, I also want to remember that I can rejoice with Him daily. The clock is a reminder of how I use my time each day with or without Him and the time when I will get to meet Him face-to-face.

Also, you may have noticed that my pages used to be 5x7 and today I have chosen to do a 6x6 page. Well, as I have been unpacking I find that my favorite pages from the past have been those in my 6x6 albums or those on my ATC holder. So, for the rest of the challenge, I will be doing 6x6 pages.

Now my question to you, will you make it a point to follow Jesus and rejoice in Him this week? Remember to use Keyword HSCRC12 when posting your creations in any online galleries. Also, please leave a link to your creation here using Inlinkz! To see all of the information regarding this challenge and the previous studies, please see this post here. Blessings to each of you!

Organizational {Friday} Fabric

Do you ever feel so overwhelmed by a mess that you are paralyzed? Well, that's about where I am now in the unpacking department! It needs to get finished but I just don't know how to go about it anymore. I don't like that feeling. Well, this morning I was determined to work in my studio some more after leaving the mess for more than a week. I wasn't inspired but decided that I should just take one item at a time and eventually it will all get done.

During a break, I jumped over to Pinterest. It always inspires me. Well, I came across Dawn's gorgeous sewing studio. Oh my! One look, and I knew I would organize my fabric today! I used to keep my fabric in a chest of drawers. It worked perfectly. Well, the movers broke the 4th drawer, and it won't be fixed or replaced until the end of the year. Ugh! So, I decided to empty the chest of drawers and move the fabric to a piece that was down in the basement. This particular storage piece is from Target and belonged to the kiddos. They used it in the foyer of our old home for their shoe cubbies. Well, we are not using it in this house. So, I decided to turn it on end and use it for my fabric.

I have spent all morning folding and organizing fabric. This is going to be wonderful, and I can tell I am going to like this more than the chest of drawers. I folded each piece of fabric into a 12"x12" piece since that's the size of each cubby. Folding the fabric into large pieces really keeps the bulk down. I like that!

Then I organized each cubby into colors. It looks so pretty sitting out in my room. Some of you may recognize this corner of my room as the corner for my new Scrap 'n Cube paper tower. Well, I moved it. LOL! Yes, I just cannot get this room how I want it yet. Also, I did e-mail Dawn and ask her if she has a problem with dust on the fabric and what she does about it. She said she hadn't thought about dust but was more concerned about the sun fading her fabrics so she keeps her blinds closed when the sun is shining in. I may have to do that too.

And lastly, some of my fabrics have a sticker on them with the name of the fabric and the yardage I purchased. I keep the stickers on the fabric as I find it very helpful!

Have a blessed weekend, and thanks for stopping by! Blessings,

Organizational {Friday} Heat Tool

Okay, I hope you don't laugh but today I wanted to share how I am storing my heat tool. Yes, the organizational posts will be few in coming as I complete my new room but I am SO excited about my "find" that I wanted to share this with you.

First, heat tools can be very dangerous. I think of it like I would a flat iron or curling iron. It's something I always want to unplug immediately after use. I have heard of heat tools falling, getting switched on, and starting fires. Now I think my old heat tool could have done that easily but I am not sure my current heat tool could do that but I certainly treat it that way!

Anyway, as I was unpacking yet another box, I came across my old drink and trash holder that I purchased probably 12+ years ago. It was called the Chatterbox Tag-A-Long. Anyone remember these or still have one? Another company sells them now, and it's called The ScrapMaBob. You can search the web as it seems many stores have them even amazon.com and Wal-Mart.

Well, I quit using this little beauty a while ago so I put it up in storage. I forgot about it until I unpacked it. As I pulled it out of the box, I knew immediately what I wanted to use it for--my heat tool!  I don't keep drinks at my desk while I am working so I didn't need it for that. I keep my drink somewhere else in my room so this little beauty has now become my "heat tool holder." I LOVE it! It's so handy to grab and use and put away! And because the holder is metal, I don't have to worry about my heat tool still being hot when I put it down. So, if you have one of these laying around, you might want to think about pulling it back out and using it for your heat tool! I love re-purposing stuff, and this one has been great thus far!

So look around and see what metal holder you might have lying around that you could clamp to your desk and use for your heat tool! Thanks for stopping by, and I hope this has been helpful. Blessings,

Tuesday's {Tip} Preparing RAKs and our RAK Winners!

Today I thought I would share a tip on how I usually create RAK boxes and RAKs. I stored more than I gave away in the last year but in our new home, I want to save it and send it fairly quickly. No more hanging onto things for RAKs and not sending them. What's the point in that?

Anyway, to save things for RAKs, I have one location where I store a few small empty boxes and mailers. Then as I come across things that are either duplicates or that I no longer use, I go ahead and put them in the boxes. Once the box is full or I feel like having a give-away, I have a box ready to go.

I also do this with books. When I get duplicates from Paperbackswap or I find a book at a great price, I buy several. I then have a box where I keep books to give away as RAKs. I love to bless others, and this is a way to have things on hand. So, with that little tip out there, it's time to share the newest RAK winners.

The RAK winners of the FaithNotes Sermon Note Keeper chosen by random.org are #28, #3, and #18. Yes, I chose 3 winners instead of 1. I hope that's okay! :) Those numbers belong to:

flip flops said... I have been taking sermon notes for years and have not found a good way to do it. I presently take my new ipad with me and do it that way....but would like to not do that. I sure would like to try your book.....if I don't win one where did you get it? Thanks so much for all you do to share with us. August 13, 2012 4:58 AM

TLady said... I LOVE your little Sermon Notebook! I've ALWAYS taken notes in church. TODAY, we went to church, looking for a NEW CHURCH! We haven't been in church for nearly 7 years! (We went through some really rough times, from family, school, work AND church; circumstances led us to move away from everything & everyone we knew.) Everything that happened left us broken hearted! It's taken us this long to even WANT TO look for a church home again! We went to church this morning & I had to ask my daughter for her tablet she kept in her purse! Which made me WISH I had remembered to get myself a new notebook just for sermons! I'll be looking around at the store to find a notebook...Thanks for the opportunity to win! August 12, 2012 3:42 PM

JoAnn said... I love the note book for sermons. It would be easy to fix one using that one as a guide. I am so happy that you will be starting back the scripture challenge! I really enjoy your writings and find them very inspirational. Keep up the good work. August 12, 2012 6:14 PM

If each of you could please e-mail your address to me, I will get a book out to you right away. Congrats to each of you, and I pray you will enjoy using it as much as I do!

And a little bit about this notebook I am giving away. It is published by Barbour Publishing, and I purchase them from Christianbook.com. Barbour Publishing also makes other titles including (click each title to see each book):

FaithNotes Prayer and Praise Organizer
FaithNotes Bible Study Notebook
FaithNotes Devotional Journal
FaithNotes Sermon Note Keeper

Each book originally costs $7.99 but I pay between $3.49-$3.99 because I am a member of Christianbook.com. It costs $5 a year to become a member and is totally worth it! If you are not a member, these books cost $5.99 each which is still cheaper than amazon.com (my "go to" store).

I hope you have found this helpful, and congrats again to each of you again. Have a blessed Tuesday everyone!

Sunday's {Search} & Other News

Today I wanted to share something that I have been using as my family and I search for our new church home. I found this book called the "Sermon Note Keeper."

Well, most of you have seen the notebooks I alter for Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) each year. Well, I certainly could have altered one for taking sermon notes too but I haven't had time and plus this little gem was 50% off. So, I thought I would give it a try. Well, I must say that I am in love. Inside there is space to write: date and time, place, speaker, topic, notes, and how it applies to my life. I usually have so many notes that I don't have room to write how it applies to my life plus I also like to add the titles of the hymns that we sang that particular morning. (Note: click photo to enlarge.)

This particular Sunday I didn't take as many notes. I wanted to show you a semi-clean page. LOL! Anyway, I have found this to be very helpful and thought I would share it with each of you in case you want to alter your own notebook to make for sermon notes. And for fun, I will give away one of these notebooks to one of my readers. Just leave a comment in the comment section stating if you take sermon notes and what you use to keep your notes in. Leave your comment by tomorrow night, Monday, August 13, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern, and I will announce the winner on Tuesday! I will also include one of my canvas bookmarks that I have made. :)

Other News
I also wanted to let you know that I feel I may be able to resume the Hymn and Scripture Challenge on Sunday, August 26th. Please pray that God expand my time and that He give me His words to resume this study. Thanks for stopping by everyone, and blessings to each of you!

Organizational {Friday} Scrap 'n Cube Paper Tower

Guess what arrived on my doorstep yesterday? Yes, my Scrap 'n Cube Paper Tower! I was SO excited to see the UPS man with his trolley full of 4 boxes! Scrap 'n Cube always packages their products beautifully. Over the past 7 years of ordering from them (gosh has it been that long), I have never had anything damaged!

If you remember, my old paper rack (a Display Dynamics paper rack) crashed and broke a few weeks ago. Here are photos after the crash:

Mind you, I had just unboxed all of my paper and gotten it organized on the paper rack then it all crashed. Here is the messy pile of paper that was left--all 21" of it:

Don't ya just love that old Disney paper? I can't part with it. One day I will get to all of those Disney photos, and that paper may just come in handy. :)

So this morning I have been re-organizing that pile of paper and putting it into my new Scrap 'n Cube Paper Tower. Here are the cubes and floor bases just after I unboxed them yesterday:

There are 4 cubes and 2 floor bases. I got 2 floor bases because I wasn't sure if I will stack all 4 cubes on 1 base or split them up with 2 cubes in 2 separate places in my room each on their own base. That's what I love about Scrap 'n Cube--so versatile, easy to move and rearrange! So many options available for sure! I have moved my room 3 times now in 7 years and rearranged my Scrap 'n Cube each time. It works in EVERY single room! I can't wait to share my full room once it's done.

Anyway, each shelf in each cube will hold about 120 sheets of 12x12 paper which equates to over 720 sheets per storage cube or 2,880 sheets per paper tower! Wow, now I pray I never have that much paper to go through. LOL! For my cubes, I have decided for now to stack the 4 cubes on 1 floor base. Here is how the cubes looked after I stacked them in their new space:

So very sturdy, and this thing will NOT fall down! And here is how they look with my paper put away:

To organize the paper, I always put cardstock on top in "color order."

Then the lower half is patterned paper organized alphabetically by manufacturer. Notice I have two slots left, and a lot of the slots are not full. I am thankful for that!

Well, I hope you have enjoyed seeing a part of my new room with my new paper tower. Thanks for stopping by! Blessings to each of you!
