{HSCRC13} Hymn #11, Jesus Never Fails

Hymn Challenge #11: Jesus Never Fails
Words Written by: Arthur A. Luther
b. 1891; d. 1960

Arthur A. Luther was a pastor and a musician. I was not able to find much about the author of this hymn. But I did find a piece that was sent to a pastor in California by the author's daughter. This piece was written by Arthur A. Luther himself. It is wonderful. I cannot, of course, copy here it to my blog because of copyright reasons so I ask that you click this link to read it. Verse 1
Earthly friends may prove untrue,
Doubts and fears assail;
One still love and cares for you;
One who will not fail.

Chorus
Jesus never fails,
Jesus never fails;
Heav'n and earth may pass away
But Jesus never fails.

Verse 2
Tho' the sky be dark and drear,
Fierce and strong the gale,
Just remember He is near,
And He will not fail.

Verse 3
In life's dark and bitter hour
Love will still prevail;
Trust His everlasting pow'r,
Jesus will not fail.

Wow, so very powerful! I cannot tell you how many times I have read these words this week. I was blown away by all they say. I truly had no idea which hymn we would study this week. So, I prayed on my morning walk, and God brought to my mind that our identity is in Him. We are not to worry about what people think of us or if friends fail us because our identity is in Him. I then said "Okay Lord, so what hymn is that?" I got home and sat down with my hymnal and just started flipping through the pages. This hymn"Jesus Never Fails"jumped out at me. I then became completely engrossed as I read the hymn and tried to find it on the web. I personally have never heard this hymn before but once I heard the chorus, I was hooked! I LOVE this hymn. Why have I never been in a church that sings this hymn? Have you? Do you know this hymn?

Anyway, I dug into a lot of study, and this hymn has truly blessed me as my daughter was facing oral surgery on Friday. She came to me in tears Tuesday night saying that she felt she was going to die during the surgery and that she wanted her life to be more than that. Then Wednesday morning, God gave me this hymnnot only for me but for her (and for you)! Do you feel helpless at times? Do you feel that even your friends let you down? Are you facing something that scares you? Well, God is on your side. He will never fail! He cares. His love is immeasurable.

Ephesians 3:17b-19 "And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God."

And here are some more scriptures to go along with the words of this hymn: 

Deuteronomy 31:6b ". . . for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you."

Matthew 24:35 (also found in Mark 13:31 and Luke 21:33) "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away."

Matthew 28:20 "and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Romans 8:18 "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us."

2 Corinthians 4:17 "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all."

Hebrews 13:5 "Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'"

I pray that as you come across difficulties, whether they be daily annoyances or ongoing tremendous sufferings, that you will remember these three simple wordsJESUS NEVER FAILS! Do not doubt. He never fails. We can face all of our trials, no matter how big or small, with confidence because our Lord never fails. What a simple yet very powerful truth to repeat and cling to! 

And again because of copyright laws, I cannot post the sheet music here for you today. I am sure some of you have hymnals that will contain this sheet music though.

For my 6x6 page today, I used the Deuteronomy 31:6b verse noted above. I also chose bright colors to denote that when my hope and trust is placed in Him, I feel better. When I rely on self and don't put my hope in trust in Him, I am downthus the touches of black. I also used the Blue Fern Studios Evening Lamp Post to denote that He is my light and source of abundant life. Focus on Him not my momentary troubles, and He will never fail!

THANK YOU for sharing these words of inspiration about our God! Surely-Jesus never fails!!

I heard the beautiful song-it brought me to tears.
I've been searching for a church home for 7 yrs. Thought I had found it where I've been attending since Oct 2012. Just realized when I woke up-there still some major things missing. Was ready to give up in my quest. Then I turn on my computer & yours is one of the first messages I had in my inbox.

Fresh hope! Jesus never fails! I will find where he wants me to serve him. I won't give up!

KC, your message has brought me to tears. I have prayed and prayed that God would use this for someone mightily today, and right off the bat He has it for you. Not to say He won't use it for other mightily today too but I am THANKFUL that He has allowed these words to let you know that He indeed DOES have a church home for you. Keep looking, keep praying, and He will reveal that precious place in His perfect timing. Hugs and prayers!!

It has really helped me today as my son is going through a difficult time [ so we are all going through it with him !]I really feel it is a special word , not just for me but God has given this to you for many others who need to hear this. I love that the Lord brings us to where we ought to be in a particular time of our lives. I needed to read the verses to the song and the scriptures that you posted today.

Your page is a lovely way to share the scripture that you added. Making pages and putting them into a book for your table is a great way to share them with anyone who comes to your home. Thank you for sharing Patter. I hope your daughter is doing well.

I did not know this hymn, but was happy to "meet it" today through your blog. I'll look through some hymnals we have and see if it's in any of them. Praise God for these truths expressed; Jesus never fails, and that is so regardless of whatever else falls short.
