Journaling {Bible} John 16:33

This past week I was praying with one of my daughter's about something going on in her life. God brought both of us many scriptures, and He also brought me this quote by Beth Moore.

"Whatever God is urging you to give away cannot be compared to what He ultimately
wants to give to you." — Beth Moore

I decided to use this quote for another Journaling {Bible} page and as a reminder of what God gave me to share with my daughter. John 16:33 went along perfectly with my daughter's situation and this quote.

John 16:33 "I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

I also used another "found piece" for this page. I had a portion of a tag sitting on my desk so I cut it up and used it for part of the journaling after first stenciling and doodling a flower on each piece. My vintage Smith-Corona typewriter always comes in handy for typing the journaling.

I pray this quote and scripture is just what some of you may need today. I know I could have used it many times in the past. I am thankful the Lord brought it to me for my daughter, and now I have it as a reminder in the future. Have a blessed weekend everyone!

Journaling {Bible} Isaiah 46

Sunday afternoon I came across a flower and a heart in my drawer. I save extra painted pieces that I don't use. I never know when I will want to use them on something. So, I decided to use these found items to begin a new Journaling {Bible} page. These dictated my color scheme, and the heart went perfect with the truth I journaled in the margin.

The truth says "A believer's heart houses God's temple and His glory!" Then I added "Do others see that in me?"

The flower was actually one painted flower that I cut into thirds and placed around the page. Then I doodle on the flower and around the flower. I also doodled around the heart once I put it on my page. Another found piece I used was a piece of a grocery bag. There is a beautiful triangular pattern on the page. I typed "believer's heart" on that piece. It doesn't show the entire pattern but it was still fun to use.

So, have fun journaling, and look around for some "found items" to use on your next page. Thanks for stopping by. Blessings,

{Glory Art} Scripture Challenge #15, Christ-Esteem

Note: Please click here to see today's Glory Art {Tip}.

The Study
How many times have you heard someone say to you or about someone else "You have low self-esteem." "Oh, they have low self-esteem." What is self-esteem? Well, wikipedia says:

"Self-esteem reflects a person's overall subjective emotional evaluation of his or her own worth. It is a judgment of oneself as well as an attitude toward the self."

That definition surely is self-focused. As Christians, we are to be Christ-focused. So how does that effect us? Let me give you an example. My daughter that attended Army Cadet Initial Entry Training this summer had the opportunity to speak to a pastor while at her training. She told him that she was scared, that she wasn't good enough for training, and that she was not physically fit compared to others. The pastor told her that her problem was that she was looking to herself for each training event instead of God. Obviously her self-esteem wasn't working; she needed Christ-esteem because He has already done everything already and He could carry her through. If Jesus suffered as He did, then He could certainly carry her. He mentioned to her that she didn't need self-esteem but Christ-esteem. I loved that.

Psalm 54:4 "Surely God is my help; the Lord is the One who sustains me."

Psalm 55:22 "Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken."

Isaiah 46:4 "Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you."

Romans 8:31b "If God is for us, who can be against us?"

As we experience Christ-esteem, it builds our faith. Faith should be the governing factor in how we live our lives daily. Don't be self-focused but experience the joys of being Christ-focused.

James 1:2-4 "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

It's not about me; it's all about God! It's not about you; it's all about God! We are to become the person that God called us to be. He has a purpose for each and every one of us. So how do your emotions and attitudes reflect Christ? Are you focusing on self- or Christ-esteem?

"God often reminds us that all our concerns and complaints are centered on one person: ourselves." Margaret Feinberg

The following image was on flickr by Lisa Bevere. I hope you enjoy it also.

So, what part of "self" do you need to lay down and trust Christ?

Tuesday's {Tip} Large Date Stamp

Today I wanted to share my new, large date stamp. On one of the message boards I belong to, a thread was started about a new mega date stamp that Studio Calico released. Some of the board members found one similar on amazon. I loved it, and it just arrived yesterday. Here is the new stamp in comparison to the Becky Higgins date stamp:

Isn't it fun? The entire stamp from handle to bottom is 6". The date is 1/2" high and 2 1/2" wide. I really like it. It was $30; however, the dates run through 2026. I will certainly have fun using this on my creations. You can find it on amazon by clicking here.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a blessed week!

{Glory Art} Scripture Challenge #14, Maturity

Note: Please click here to see today's Glory Art {Tip}.

The Study
Last study, we talked about religion versus a relationship with Christ. If you missed that study, please click here. For today's study, we will now look at moving forward in our relationship with Christ and becoming a mature Christian.

Once we are saved, we now begin our journey to becoming more like Jesus. Think of your salvation as the bottom rung of a ladder. That is where we start, and we want to move up the ladder not just hang out on the bottom rung. If we camp out on the basics (or that bottom rung), we are malnourished Christians. I don't know about you, but I definitely don't want to be a malnourished Christian. We need to be growing in our faith.

Philippians 3:12-14 "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

Ephesians 4:14-15 "Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Him who is the head, that is, Christ."

We need to move from being self-focused to Christ-focused. As we mature and love Him more, we want to do things that please Him. It's not out of obligation, it's out of a deep love for Him. We must grow in our faith; it's not optional. We either move forward in our relationship with Christ (sanctification) or we fall backward in our relationship with Him. Our choices determine whether we move forward or back. It is a life-long process. Are you making better choices today than when you first came to Christ? Can you say that you experience more fruits of the Spirit now than you did when you first came to Christ?

Galatians 5:22-23 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."

2 Peter 1:5-8 "For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."

2 Thessalonians 1:3 "We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing."

We are to always do morelove, hope, encourage, etc. It can only be done through Christ as we grow in Him.

So, how do we grow in Christ? First, we have to have the desire to grow. If we don't have the desire, then you may become lax and think that you don't need to do anything else. God has more for you; He wants you to move from the bottom rung of that ladder. Don't you want to experience what He has waiting?

1 Peter 2:2 "Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation."

1 Peter 2:21 "To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in His steps."

Second, we must read His Word, study, pray, and fellowship with other believers.

Matthew 4:4 "Jesus answered, 'It is written: Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"

2 Timothy 3:16 "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness."

And lastly, we need to apply God's truths to our daily life.

James 1:4 "Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

Hebrews 5:14 "But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil."

1 Timothy 4:7 "Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly."

Doing all of these things takes our daily diligence. Remember, it is a life-long process. It takes constant use as we see in Hebrews 5:14. Think of where you were in your walk with Christ last year. If you have been doing the things listed above, I am sure you are more mature in Christ than you were last year. And if you continue, think of how He might grow you over this next year. And if you have not been doing these things, will you pray for that desire to grow and mature in Him? Are you willing to discover the areas of your life that have not been perfected yet and where He wants you to grow? Are you ready to continue your journey to becoming more like Jesus? I know I am! He is our example. Will you follow Him?

The Art
Last study, I created four Scripture Art Cards. I had so much fun with them and the colors I used that I wanted to recreate it on a larger art journaling page. So, that is what I have done for my creation today. And for our Glory Art {Tips} today, I have listed the step-by-step instructions so that you can see how I created this page. Click here to see that post. I hope you find it helpful.

The scriptures I chose are Ephesians 4:14-15 and 1 Peter 2:21. It really was hard choosing two scriptures. There were so many good ones for "maturity."

Feel free to join us on the Facebook page where some people will be sharing their creations. We also have some discussions that will be going on there too about the study. If you don't use Facebook and want to share your creation here, do so below by using Inlinkz!
