Challenge Word #3: Abide
Are you passionate about living to please Christ? Do you long for a vibrant relationship with Him? Something we are focusing on this year in Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) is “Abiding in Christ.” What exactly does abide mean? Vine’s Concise Dictionary says “continue in, constant residence, to remain beside, to continue near, an abode.” Think of it as remaining fixed permanently on Christ in everything you do, say, think, etc. We should rely on Him for all things and draw our strength for all situations from Him. He should be at the forefront of a believers mind at all times. We should live less for our own desires and live for an eternal perspective. Abiding in Christ effects the way we think, act, and speak.
Filling our minds with His Word and truths is key to abiding in Christ. The more time we spend with Him, His presence begins to take over our lives. His Word takes root and changes our lives, reveals sin, and gives us a passion to live to please Him and serve others. Do you live to please your family, friends, and colleagues, or do you live to please Him?
As we abide in Christ, we will produce spiritual fruit. Sometimes we will see that fruit, and some of it we will not see until we get to Heaven. But you can be confident that as you serve Him and live for Him, He will use your service, actions, and life to His glory. I found this on the web as I studied this week--"Just as a branch draws its life-source from the vine, believers must stay connected to Christ for His life to flow through them and produce spiritual fruit.” I just love that!
John 15:1-9 says it perfectly--"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”
My Life Application Study Bible notes say this about that passage “Many people try to be good, honest people who do what is right. But Jesus says that the only way to live a truly good life is to stay close to Him, like a branch attached to the vine. Apart from Christ our efforts are unfruitful. Are you receiving the nourishment and life offered by Christ, the vine? If not, you are missing a special gift He has for you.”
He may have to do some rearranging in our lives but how awesome to know that the "rearranging" will make us more like Him and that He can use us for His great purpose!
As I studied this week, I looked at the words “remain” and “dwell” also. You may also search Bible Gateway for different versions of the same passage. For instance, I love the King James Version of 1 Corinthians 7:24. It says "Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God."
However, the NIV says "Brothers, each man, as responsible to God, should remain in the situation God called him to."
Will you abide in Him in all things everyday so that you will be transformed to His image to produce spiritual fruit for His Kingdom? Will you make your abode (your home) in Him?
For my page today, the Layers of Color Gothic Crosses and Nature Walk stamp sets were perfect for this page! I embossed the cross and the leaves. Then I attached the leaves to the "vine" symbolizing my staying close and attached to Him. The patterned paper is by Bella Blvd, and I love that it had the trees, branches, and leaves. Again, perfect for my page.

Papers: Bella Blvd Little Buds, Bella Blvd Sugar Cone, Bella Blvd Easter Grass, Papertrey Ink CS
Stamps: Layers of Color Gothic Crosses, Layers of Color Nature Walk, JustRite 100 Year Dater
Stamp Ink: SU chocolate chip and close to cocoa, Ranger clear EP
Embellishments: Basic Grey milk chocolate chip micro-chip alphas, misc. ribbon, 7Gypsies ATC card, Making Memories safety pins
The scriptures I used are:
1 John 2:24 "See that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father."
John 15:5 "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."
Remember to use Keyword SCRC210 when posting in galleries. It will be easier for people to find your work if you use our keyword. Also, feel free to leave a link here for others to see using Mister Linky. I paid for an upgrade to a better version. I pray y'all find you like it. Using Mister Linky is truly the easiest way for others to view your work. :) Well, have a blessed time of study, and I will see you next time. In Him,

{Faith Journaling} Challenge #11
I don't know about you but I LOVE seeing God in creation! Oh, the cloud formations, the rays of sun coming through the clouds, rainbows, a beautiful full moon, etc. Today, share about your favorite and what remind you of Him:
**What in creation reminds you of the Lord?
Romans 1:20 says "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." I love clearly seeing my precious Father through His creation. How about you? Blessings,

Tuesday's {Tip} Let's Talk Glue Dots!
Glue Dots! One of my favorite adhesives! I keep a huge stash on hand because I truly believe I use them on every creation! I use the regular Glue Dots, the minis, and the Pop Glue Dots! Love them all equally!
As I was creating a page the other day, I realized that I use them in different ways that people may have never tried before so I thought I would share my tips with you today.
First, do you ever want to use a Pop Dot but it is just too thick? I have had several occasions where that has happened. So, what I do in those instances is use 2 or 3 regular Glue Dots or minis depending on the size I want. I just layer them on top of each other until I get the thickness I want. It gives the piece a bit of dimension but not as much as a Pop Dot. Love that!
Second, do you ever find you need a Glue Dot in an odd-shaped spot? That happens to me a lot. My solution is to cut a regular Glue Dot or Pop Dot in half! I do this quite often and it fits in those small, strange spots. I have also cut them into quarters on occasion. Works perfectly! Below you can see how I have cut a Pop Dot in half. Love it!
So, use your imagination, and use those Glue Dots in a new way! Have fun creating, and I hope this was helpful! Blessings,

Our Daily Bread Designs News & Blog Hop!!
Today is a huge day for Our Daily Bread Designs--the new Challenge Team is being revealed, and my exciting news is that they have asked me to join this amazing team. You can't imagine my excitement when I got that e-mail!!! I am humbled and so very, very excited! Thank you Kelley and Chris for asking me to join in on the fun! Other challenge team members joining me are: America Kuhn, Natalie Dever, Chris Olsen, Christine Okken, Francie Gumprecht, and Sabrina Jackson.
So, today we start with a Challenge Team Hop and Scavenger Hunt! If you came here from Sabrina Jackson's amazing blog, you are in the right place. If not, you can go back to the ODBD blog to start the hop at the beginning and find out all of the scavenger hunt details. We have lots of fun and a chance to win a Light Of the World stamp set so don't miss out. For the scavenger hunt, here is what you need to find on the Challenge Team blogs:
1. red ric rac
2. Psalm 28:7
3. mittens
4. damask
5. palm trees
6. daisies
7. polka dotted tea pot
(Please note all items are on sidebars or heading bars and backgrounds, not in the posts themselves.)
My card for today's hop was encouraged by my daughter. When she saw the lighthouse from the ODBD Light Of the World stamp set, she said "Mommy, you need to color it like the lighthouse on Hilton Head." So, this card is officially the "Harbour Town Lighthouse" card. :)

Papers: SU black CS, Collage Press Grayson Hall, Strathmore Watercolor paper
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs Light of the World (image), Our Daily Bread Designs Keep my Lamp Burning (sentiment)
Stamp Ink: Stazon black, SU bashful blue
Embellishments: Derwent watercolor pencils, misc. ribbon, Glitz icing
I loved coloring this lighthouse! I used my Derwent watercolor pencils and my new found love--the Stampin Up blender pens. I also loved using the Collage Press map paper. It was just perfect for the lighthouse. And here is a photo I took of the real the Harbour Town lighthouse:
So, do they look similar? Thank you precious daughter for the coloring idea!
Be sure to join us on Saturday, February 6th, for our first team challenge! Now hop on over to America's awesome blog to see what she has created for you today! And remember to be eligible to win, you must leave comments on each Challenge Team members' blog hop post and the ODBD blog along with e-mailing your treasure hunt answers to Chris by Thursday, January 28th at 8 p.m. EST. Thanks for stopping by, and have a blessed weekend!

Organizational {Friday} Cuttlebug Folders
When I began collecting my folders, I always wrote the name of the folder on the back with a black Sharpie. Well, I began to notice that as I ran the folder and paper through my machine, sometimes the black Sharpie ink would end up on the inside of a card! It was awful. I was ruining cards. Here is how they were previously labeled. DON'T do this! :)
Now of course I had to get that Sharpie off of each folder so I took my Magic Eraser to remove the name off of each folder. Using a Magic Eraser works GREAT! It went fast.
Then I used my labeler to print out the folder names and put them on the back of each folder.
Agh, that works so much better, and no more ink that ruins my paper! To organize them, I just sort them in alphabetical order by folder name.
Then I store them on a shelf on my Stampin' Things unit. You can see them on the right on the top shelf. Simple, easy to grab, use, and put away!
I personally love storing them this way. I use these folders a lot, and it is so much easier to grab them off the shelf instead of fumbling through a drawer. If you would like other Cuttlebug storage ideas, check out this thread and this thread on Splitcoaststampers! Enjoy, and happy organizing!

Tuesday's {Tip} Bobbin Cards for Ribbon
Lindsay Weirich created these bobbin cards. Aren't they adorable? What a cute way to store your ribbon or keep a "ring full" to take to crops! Perfection!
Not only did Lindsay create these, she has a free Cricut file you can download so you can cut these out with your Cricut. If you are like me and don't have a Cricut, she also created a file that you can print out then you can just cut them out yourself. Visit Lindsay's post here to get your files! Have fun, and thanks Lindsay for allowing me to share your super cute idea!

{Scripture Challenge 2} Challenge Word #2, Temptation
First, I want to say how much I have enjoyed seeing everyone's title pages and "Hope" pages. Wow! Such stunning creations and beautiful scriptures everyone has chosen! I am REALLY loving Mister Linky! It makes it much easier for me to find everyone's work and leave some love! I hope you are enjoying it and receiving/leaving love too! And I was not able to leave comments on Facebook, some galleries where I am not a member, etc. Yes, can you believe I am not a Facebook member? LOL! So, if you did not get love from me, it most likely means I am not a member or was not able to leave it for some reason. I did look at all links left up until today. :) Now, let's look at today's lesson.
Challenge Word #2: Temptation
As people, we are tempted daily—tempted to speed, tempted to wear clothing that may be a bit revealing thus causing temptation in someone else, tempted to eat more than we should, tempted to ___________. You fill in the blank. We are surrounded by temptation. And today, what some might consider a temptation might seem normal to others. The more we are subjected to something (whether right or wrong), the more we see it as normal and okay. Max Lucado said “We cannot stand firm against the lies of the world unless we are firmly grounded in Christ. Be diligent to read God’s Word and pray often.”
Temptation presents itself to us in many forms—the obvious things like breaking the law, and then the subtle things that no one may see except yourself (and God). Here is an example God wanted me to share with you. During Christmas, I ordered a couple of expensive purses (on clearance of course). I knew what day they were being delivered since I was tracking them. The delivery day came and went without any package being left at my door. The next morning, I checked the shipping status, and the UPS site showed that they had been delivered the previous evening, Dec. 22nd. Well, I certainly hadn’t received them. I urgently called the store on Dec. 23rd to see if they could figure out what happened. They immediately had two more purses sent via overnight delivery. Yeah, the Christmas presents would make it! They arrived Christmas Eve. Whew!
A claim for the original package was filed with UPS. Surprisingly, two weeks later, the lost box arrived at our door. It turns out our neighbors were on extended vacation, and the box was inadvertently delivered to their house while they were away. So, now I had two more expensive purses. I knew I would be immediately sending them back; however, here comes the possible temptation. No one knew I had the purses. UPS thought they were lost; the store thought they were lost. I could have kept them. No one would have known. Hey, they could have even been sold on eBay. But of course I did not and would never have considered such a thing. But what an easy temptation. God would have known. Not only would it have been clear disobedience, it would have been stealing! Temptations like that surround us daily. What choice would you have made? Make a little extra money? Or return it to the rightful owners—the store? How about getting too much change back at the store? Do you give it back? Or oops, maybe the store forgot to charge you for a item. Do you let it go or do you say something? And how about being offered to copy a CD for your iPod? Agh, those small temptations!
Temptation in itself is not a sin. It’s when we give in to the temptation and disobey God that causes the sin. Dr. Henrietta C. Mears said “It is the ‘I’ in ‘sIn’ that must be removed. Put ‘O’ in its place and you have “SON’. He will give you victory!” What an awesome example to remember next time you are tempted.
Think about how you feel when you have resisted a temptation. Isn’t it a glorious feeling? What joy!!! Wow! Now think about how do you feel when you give in to that temptation and sin? You probably feel pretty lousy. I know I do! Agh, but the glorious feeling and obedience to God is what we need to strive for. Even Jesus was tempted by Satan in Matthew 4:1 “Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil.” Jesus was tempted. He knows how hard it is for us. But in Him we can triumph over temptation!
Zondervan’s Daily inspiration said “We must be ever vigilant. Vigilant in deciding what we will allow in—into our homes, into our heads, or into our hearts. The Bible warns, ‘Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour’ (1 Peter 5:8). Temptation—just that one little thing—is all around. But there is good news: the temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. ‘And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure’ (see 1 Corinthians 10:13)." Praise God for His faithfulness.
For my page, I used a lot of symbolism. First, I tore my paper in half as I thought about being torn between temptation and following what we should do in Christ. I then used two arrows--one covered in red paper to denote Satan, and one covered in heart paper to denote our love for Christ. Which way will I turn when I am tempted?
The beautiful flowers and leaves are from the new release from Layers of Color called Flowering Gems. I colored in the images with my watercolor pencils and then cut them out for my page.
Papers: K&Co. Wild Raspberry, Bazzill, Strathmore Watercolor paper
Stamps: Layers of Color Flowering Gems, Provo Craft 12 pt.
Stamp Ink: SU creamy caramel and close to cocoa
Embellishments: Deluxe Designs chipboard arrows, Stickles lime green, Basic Grey white chocolate chip micro-chip alphas, Robins Nest dew drops, Making Memories leather photo corners, Derwent watercolor pencils, Nestabilities small and large deckle dies
And here is my page on my stand:
The scripture I chose for this challenge is:
1 Corinthians 10:13 ". . . And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it."
Remember to use Keyword SCRC210 when posting in galleries. It will be easier for people to find your work if you use our keyword. Also, feel free to leave a link here for others to see using Mister Linky. Using Mister Linky is truly the easiest way for others to view your work. :) You can also view everyone's work by clicking on the Mister Linky icon above my signature. It's fun to get some love so be sure to check back to see everyone's work!
And remember, you can find all studies in this post here. So, will you turn to Him for strength when you are tempted? Will you turn to the "sIn" or the "SON"? Blessings, and see you with our next challenge on January 31st! In Him,

Organizational {Friday} Die Cut Unit Again with Quickutz
If you remember, last week I showed you the top of the unit with a few Quickutz dies and some Sizzlet dies (large and small). Well, I decided to try all of my 2x2 Quickutz dies in the top!!! I really love it, and I think I will leave them there. Here is what it looked like last Friday:
And here is what it looks like now:
As you can see, I had to turn the 2x2 dies sideways in the center section but I really like it. The center section will also hold the 2x4 dies there really nicely. You can fit two rows of 2x4 dies and one row of 2x2 dies in the center section if you wish. I keep my alpha dies in alphabetical order so it is easy to find which alpha I am looking for. And since the unit sits on a swivel base, it is easy to turn around to look at the center section too. Super easy, super wonderful. I am going to redo my tags, however. They are blue, and they MUST be pink. LOL! I didn't have time for that this week but that is coming! The only difference having my Quickutz dies in the top is that because the Quickutz dies have the tab on each die with the die number, I cannot fit both my Cuttlebug and my BigShot on top now. If you fill the top with Sizzlets or dies that don't have the tab like Quickutz does, you will still be able to fit both machines on top. I think I am going to get rid of my Cuttlebug anyway so this was not an issue for me. But the BigShot still fits beautifully on top with all of these Quickutz dies there. I just center the unit now instead of placing it towards the edge. :)
If you missed last week's post about this unit, look here. And be sure to join me next week when I will show you my Cuttlebug embossing folders stored on this unit. That has changed slightly too. :) Yes, organization is always a changing and fun process! Enjoy your Friday!

Last week we journaled about having a quiet time with the Lord each day. This week I thought we should share where we meet with the Lord.
**Do you have a special place where you meet with the Lord each day? Why is it special?
Luke 11:1 says "One day Jesus was praying in a certain place." Share about your certain place. And remember, you can find all of the previous journaling questions in this post here. Blessings to you,

Tuesday's {Tip} 'To Do' Books
To create my book, I purchased cheap, small spiral notebooks from my local grocery store. They were less than $2 each! I bought several because I make these books as gifts too. Here is my "to do" book followed by the one I made for my sister:

The metal clips hold completed pages so that I can flip to the current page quickly. These have truly been helpful in keeping me organized not to mention they are fun to make! If you need to organize those task lists, this might just be the solution for you in 2010! Enjoy!

{Scripture Challenge 2} My Title Page
Okay, so I was visiting everyone's links to their "Hope" pages yesterday, and I discovered that I had not created a title page for my album this year! Ooops, and thanks to those of you that had yours posted so I could be reminded. :) So today, I decided to create my page and get it posted. If you haven't created a title page, this weekend might be a fun time to get that done! Here is my page:
Papers: Memory Box Gossamer, Layman's Bible Encyclopedia 1964
Stamp Ink: SU creamy caramel
Embellishments: Ribbon Retreat ribbon, Memory Box baby pink pearls, Prima flowers, Basic Grey white chip micro-chip stickers, Making Memories Sabrina tiny alpha stickers, Scenic Route alpha stickers
I used the new Memory Box Gossamer papers and some scripture from an old Bible encyclopedia. It was fun and quick to make. I would love to see your title pages. Feel free to leave a link to them in the Mister Linky box below so we can all look! Thanks everyone for stopping by, and see you January 17th with your next study! Blessings,

Organizational {Friday} Die Cuts & More Unit
Most of you know that I have several organizational pieces from Sue of Stampin' Things. Well, I must share my latest piece with you--the Die Cuts and More unit. Once again, I am extremely pleased with this unit! Sue's workmanship and customer service is beyond amazing. I sure wish I was gifted that way but thus I am not. LOL!
This unit works for the following products:
*Quickutz
*Sizzix
*Cuttlebug
*Nestabilities
*Spellbinders
*SU Big Shot products
*Etc., etc., etc.
This unit measures 18"x12"x14", has a swivel base, and hold dies 2"x2" all the way up to the extended 6"x13 3/4". It can hold approximately:
*Up to 60 BigZ and Original Die Cuts plus 11 BigZ XL and Movers and Shapers
*OVER 150+ Sizzlets, Embosslets, and Sizzlets Decorative Strip Dies
*All Cutting Pads (Standard, Extended and Decorative)
*All Spacer Platforms (Standard, Extended and Decorative)
*All Premium Crease Pads, Texturz Pads
*Texturz Plates, Cuttlebug Embossing Folders
*Countless Quickutz dies
*Holds many Nestabilities (when stored in CD cases)
It will also hold BOTH a Big Shot and Cuttlebug on top with dies under them. Here you can see a few Quickutz alpha dies and some Sizzlet dies (both large and small Sizzlets) in the top. And yes, I have tons of room left for a lot more here!
Then here you can see both my BigShot and my Cuttlebug on top of the dies. The dies are hidden just underneath both of my machines. And the cubbies below my machines hold all of my cutting and embossing pads and the big Sizzix Texturz plates. Again, tons of room left to grow here too.
On this side of the unit, I put my Cuttlebug embossing folders. I have them in alphabetical order by design name. I again, have tons of room left. For now I have a jar of miscellaneous buttons and two tins full of WRMK metal alphas. These storage areas here can actually hold a lot of Sizzix dies or Quickutz 4x4 dies. I just do not have that many dies yet so this works great for me and looks pretty in my area. :) I did put some of my Quickutz 4x4 storage binders on here, and they worked beautifully but I already have a different storage area for those. But you could certainly put yours on here. I do not have any of the 4x8 alphas so I could not test those for you.
And on this side, you can see my few Sizzix dies, my Quickutz 12" border dies, and some of my large CM punches.
One thing I noticed when I received the unit is that one side is blank. The way the storage areas have to be for the extended dies, etc., I think this side must be built as it is. But don't fear. I found a GREAT solution for the blank side. I altered a KaiserCraft memo board to hang there. I am always needing paper in my craft area so this is perfect!

Board: KaiserCraft Memo Board
Papers: Memory Box Gossamer Flitter & Gossamer Happenstance
Stamp Ink: Adirondack shell pink, SU creamy caramel
Stamp: Memory Box Branch Heart E1310
Paints: Memory Makers rose petal, Smooch vanilla shimmer, Shimmerz angel wings
Embellishments: misc. ribbon, Memory Box baby pink pearls, My Mind's Eye buttons, Bazzill flowers, American Crafts felt flower, Basic Grey dark chocolate chip micro-chip stickers, Mod Podge
You could also use hooks to hang scissors or ribbon, etc. Use your imagination to customize this side as you wish. There are also other blank wood areas around the unit as you can probably see. I talked to Sue, and she said it is not a problem to put nails, hooks, or whatever in those areas to add hanging storage as you wish. Now that's fun! Nothing more fun than expandable and customizable storage!
If you would like to see my post on the other units I have from Stampin' Things, see my post here. I hope you have enjoyed today's post. Be sure to stop by and see what else Sue has at Stampin' Things. You will not be disappointed in any piece you get from her! Blessings to each of you!

{Scripture Challenge 2} Your Questions Answered
First let me start by saying, thank you for your enthusiasm about the new study. Your comments touch my heart as I see how you will use the study and I see your excitement! Yeah! I have also received several questions about the Scripture challenge, so I thought I would create another reference post to help everyone (hopefully). :)
Where Can We Post?
You may post your work wherever you wish and as many places as you wish. It's your work! :) Some places to post might include your blog, Splitcoaststampers, 2Peas, Scrapbook.com, Faith Sisters, etc., etc., etc.
I highly recommend that you put our keyword in the galleries where you post. That way if any of us happen to be in the same gallery, we can search on the keyword and find any and all work done for the challenge. Our keyword for the {Scripture Challenge 2} this year is SCRC210.
How Does the Misty Linky Work?
I am a bit puzzled as to why Mister Linky is not showing everyone's links until you click on the icon. I know several of you have put yours there already. Yeah! Anyway, it still seems to be working but they just don't show up without clicking on the Mister Linky icon. The icon is just above my name in the challenge post.
To leave your link for others to view:
*Click the Mister Linky icon.
*Fill out the blanks with your name and link to where you posted your page.
*Click enter.
To see others work via the Mister Linky links:
*Click the Mister Linky icon.
*Click on the participants link and enjoy!
*Then leave them a little love if you can. :)

I am Confused by the Various Challenges Here
I have several challenges here on my blog. I also post design team work from time to time. The two main challenges I am hosting this year are the {Scripture Challenge 2} posted every other Sunday and the {Faith} Journaling Challenge posted every Thursday. These are two separate challenges but you may of course participate in one or both of them. :) The His Holy Name challenge was a challenge I hosted last year. That is not continuing this year; however, you can view the entire challenge here.
How Does the Wooden Stand Display Your Pages?
I am using the vertical stand from Taylored Expressions along with We R Memory Keeper 6x6 page protectors. I am still in the process of staining my stand but here is what it looks like thus far and how the pages hang on the stand. The pages hang by metal rings.
Doesn't it look pretty in the stand? Now if I can finish staining it as I want. LOL! Anyway, I have also purchased stands from Bingaman Woodcrafts. I have the older version of the stand, and they are now $5 each but you must purchase five of them. It's a great deal if you want to buy that many! Anyway, you can see details here.
Future Questions
Feel free to continue to ask questions. You can comment in a post, and I will try to comment back there. Or you can e-mail me, and I will answer you personally via e-mail.
Thank you again for your excitement, and have a blessed weekend!
