More Wild Roses on a {Repurposed Card}

Here is another repurposed RSVP card. It started out as a card to practice flowers and to put extra paint. Well, the more I played, I decided to turn it into a card. I am going to mail it to a young lady just diagnosed with Chiari Malformation. One of my girls has Chiari, and I remember those early days and how scary they were. I pray this lifts her spirits in some small way.

Wild Roses on {Repurposed Cards}

You may have seen the cards I have created using the RSVP cards from my daughter's wedding. I really like using them. Well, I recently took an online Wild Rose art class by Laly Mille. Click here to find out about her work and classes. She created on a canvas but I figured these cards would work just as wonderful. So that is what I used for the class. Here is how they turned out.

I sent two of these to two of my daughter's. My other daughter had already gotten her card that I created earlier. The James 4:8 card I am displaying in my studio because that is one of my favorite scriptures. I love that daily reminder to draw near to Him.

Another {Repurposed} Card

Two days before Christmas, I posted a repurposed card. I am taking the RSVP cards from my daughter's wedding and turning them into cards to share with people. If you missed that post, click here. Well, here is a similar card that I made for her. This is her favorite verse, and it's one she really has to remind herself as she takes a medical school quiz/exam every single Friday morning! God is good, and He is always with her.

This is such a good reminder that when we are nervous or face something that scares us, that God is with us! He sees all. He knows our fears and what stresses us. Rely on Him. Will you do that today? Blessings,

{ICAD} and a Repurposed Card

A few days ago, someone asked on an online forum what people did with RSVP cards from their weddings or their children's weddings. Most responded, "Toss them." Well, I still have a stack myself from my daughter's wedding in June. I couldn't toss that beautiful, heavy paper. So, I have decided to repurpose them to make cards for people.

Today I wanted to show you my first repurposed card. My daughter's dearest friend in medical school asked if I could make her a card. So this is what I have made for her. I also created an ICAD at the same time for myself. I will stamp the date on the tab when I use it. It's super easy to create two things at once instead of reinventing the wheel.

For the back of the card, I covered it in book paper, added some gesso, and I will write her a personal note on the back.

As for the supplies I used, here is a photo of most of what I used. The Daniel Smith Watercolor Ground is new to me. I love it! The ability to use my watercolors and then cover in matte medium is awesome. It gives it such a great, great texture too. I hope you find this supply photo helpful!

A {Layout} and a Card for Blue Fern Studios

Hello everyone. I wanted to share my Blue Fern Studios December creations with you. I have a layout and a card to share with you today. Let's get started.

Trust
This layout is one I did for my chosen word for 2105. My word for next year is 'trust'. I used the Blue Fern Studios Montage collection for this 8 1/2 x 11 page.

The Chicken Wire Panel chipboard piece I covered in texture paste followed by some colored mist. I also only used a portion of this chipboard piece. It comes as a 12x12 piece but is wonderful to cut down to any size you need.

Joy
For the background of this card, I embossed and then sanded the Sanctuary Conservatory paper.

For the sentiment, I used the Chunky Words chipboard and covered it in texture paste.

Creations for Blue Fern Studios

Today I have a layout and a card to share with you using the new Blue Fern Studios paper line called "Sanctuary." It is a beautiful line that can be used for anything, any time of year. I am going to show you how I used it on a heritage page and a Christmas card. You will see how versatile this new line is! Let's get started.

Cherish

This is my husband back in about 1966. Wasn't he a cutie? Well, I must say he still is. LOL! Anyway, for this page I used, the papers Sanctuary Bountiful and Sanctuary Conservatory. Such beautiful colors for this 8 1/2 x 11 heritage page.

To cover the Splattered Circles and Spare Parts chipboard pieces, I covered them in gesso, and then used some distress stains in various colors.

To cover the Adore, Love, Cherish chipboard piece (the title), I used the same technique as above but then I also added some darker gelatos to the chipboard.

Christmas Wishes

For this card I used the Sanctuary Meadows of Time and Sanctuary Conservatory papers. The chipboard piece is called Seeing Stars.

To alter the chipboard, I covered it in silver Inka Gold and then added some silver and gold embossing. To finish, I added pearls around the edge.

A {Card} and a Layout for Blue Fern Studios

Well, it's the 21st which means it's my turn to share some Blue Fern Studios inspiration. For my creations this month, I created a card and a layout for you. Let's look at each of them.

Sweet

When our identical triplets daughters turned 20 this past September, two of them were away at college. Celebrating a milestone with them away from home was hard. So, I enlisted the help of one of their friends at school to have some special surprises waiting for them on their special day. In order to thank her for her help, I created this card and included a gift card. 

I started with the new Blue Fern Studios Montage papers (Now and Then and Fairyland). Then I added a sentiment from the Arrow Words chipboard set. 

To color the chipboard, I lightly tapped on some black gesso. You can still see some bits of the natural chipboard showing through. I wanted it to have a more textured look instead of painted just black so I was able to achieve that by painting it in this way.

Cherish

For this 8 1/2 x 11 layout, I started with the new Blue Fern Studios Mercantile paper. I toned down the background just a bit by putting down a thin layer of gesso. Once dry, I added some stenciling and Gelatos for color.

I used two chipboard pieces from Blue Fern Studios—Adore, Love, and Cherish that I used for the title, and the Wild Flourish Frame. To cover the title chipboard, I just covered in black gesso. To cover the flourish chipboard, I first coated it in gesso. While the gesso was wet, I sprinkled on two different colors of embossing powder.

It's Sketch Time!

I am excited to share the newest Blue Fern Studios sketch challenge with you. Have you played along yet in any of the challenges? Oh I hope so! You can do anything with these sketches! I turn these 12x12 sketches into 8 1/2 x 11 layouts, art journal pages, and cards. Today I am going to share a card with you that I created using the September Sketch.

To cover the Roman Clock set chipboard, I put on a layer of gesso. Then I spritzed with three different colors of Prima Color Bloom Mists to match the Blue Fern Studios Ombre Dreams paper.

Card Inspiration!

Hello! I wanted to share two cards with you that have the same design concept but look very different. Both cards use the Blue Fern Studios Ombre Dreams paper line and the Leafy Bough chipboard. Both cards also use a doily, stitching, lace, and flair for the sentiment. Let's look at today's card inspiration.

Hello There
For this card, I used a portion of the Leafy Bough chipboard. I also left the branding strip on at the bottom of the patterned paper. It has a lace design on it which gave me the idea to add real lace to that portion of the card, and it also brought in a second color to the card.

To distress the chipboard, I misted it with water to peel up the leaves into more layers. I then painted the chipboard with gelatos.

This card is a 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 square card. I used the left-over piece of the Leafy Bough chipboard from above.

I also treated the chipboard in the same way that I did with the above card. I did color it with different colored gelatos however.

So, what did I do with the sketch? I decided to use it to create a card. I used just a portion of the sketch to create this card. I used the Blue Fern Winter Page Dangles chipboard and cut off the top portion of the chipboard to add the detail to the upper left corner of the card too.
