Mask Pattern

After watching four videos on how to make a reusable mask and making a few practice masks, I finally came up with something I like. I much prefer using 1/2" cotton twill tape instead of elastic. I can get a better and more comfortable fit that way. Here are my instructions. I hope you are able to open and use this pdf successfully. Remember, the Lord is on High, and He is control of even this dreadful virus!

Hello wonderful blog subscribers. I cannot believe it is almost Christmas. Where has the year gone? I wanted to take a moment and thank each of you for participating with me for the past 11 years during the Scripture and Glory {Art} Studies. It has been wonderful. At this time, God has not called me to continue with these studies. I hope that you will go back and work on the years you did not complete or join in where you have missed in the past. God has called me to new things in my local church--one of which is a class He put on my heart called "Holy Leisure." My bestie and I taught it together at our church this past summer testing out the curriculum. It was amazing and received so well. I will be teaching it again in the Spring, and I am also leading another class God also put on my heart called "Craft 'n Connect." I hope to bring bits and pieces of these classes to you here on my blog as God leads me.

In 2019, I plan on crocheting, sewing, doing mixed media art, embroidery, scripture writing, pocket and traditional scrapbooking, etc. I will share these things as I create, and hopefully there is a bit here for everyone to enjoy! More {Bible} Bands

I am on a {Bible} Band making frenzy for some reason. I designed these back in 2013, and I haven't made any in a while. I saw some beautiful fabric, and just started making them for fun again. I don't even know who I am making them for. I did make one for my daughter that she loves. I forgot to take a photo of hers, however. So, here are some of the new ones I have created this week. These can be used for any book, planner, Bible, etc.

Art {Journaling} Inspiration Journal Video Flip Through

Art {Journaling} Inspiration Journal In-Progress

For a little Sunday fun, I am creating another Inspiration Journal. This time I am going to use two signatures, grommets, ribbon, etc. I have not completed it yet but thought I would share my progress with you today. I still have to finish sewing the cover and get the signatures in the journal. 

I used all sorts of fun things for the inclusions. I used tags, paper bags, file folders, envelopes, security envelopes, and more. You can see some of them pictured below on the right as well as the journal cover on the left. 

I also chose to use a different fabric for the button so that I would have a bit more color. I have not picked my ribbons yet but I am sure I will bring more color in that way too. Look for the finished journal here on my blog soon. Thanks for stopping by, and have a blessed Sunday!

Art {Journaling} Inspiration Journal Giveaway

Many of you may have seen Donna Downey's Inspiration Wednesday videos. She has posted them for many years. Anyway, I have always wondered where she purchased her journals. Well, she makes them. So, I watched her $5 class on how to make them, and I made a quick one yesterday. Click here to see the class details. 

For my journal, I decided not to use grommets. I just stitched the pages directly into the fabric journal. I am not planning on adding signatures, so this works for me. This journal has 12 pages of Canson Mixed Media paper inside as well as a tag or other fun item in the center of each page. The outside fabric is a thinner cotton, and the inside is heavy canvas so it can get paint all over it. Here is a quick look. I am not sure why so many wrinkles showed up in the photo. It doesn't look like that in person. Hmmm? :)

Another {Bible} Band

Do you remember the elastic band I made last year to put around my Bible? Well, I made another one. I love using a 'Bible Band' as I have named it because it keeps my Bible from opening in my bag and the pages getting bent. Sometimes the cover of a Bible is just too pretty to put in a Bible case so the 'Bible Band' works perfectly for me! Can you see which character is on the band? Yes, it's Classic Pooh Bear. I have a small obsession with him and pink. :) He matched the Bible cover so perfectly that I had to use this fabric for this 'Bible Band'. :)

This particular Bible is called the ESV Journaling Bible. The type is extremely small but I do not plan on using this for my study Bible. I am using it for my journaling Bible. If you haven't seen what a journaling Bible is, look at Shanna Noel's posts here. I am just starting, and I plan on taking key points from Sunday's sermon notes and journaling them in this Bible.

A {Little} Sewing Project

I have this beautiful Bible that doesn't have a cover. I haven't carried it because it's too pretty. But with my failing, aging eyesight I decided I want to carry it exclusively now. It's a thinline Bible, and it's large print. Perfect! 

So, how many times have your Bible pages been bent because your Bible is down in a bag or you are just carrying it without a cover? I know it has happened to me way too many times. With this Bible, I don't want that to happen but I also don't want a cover—I love the soft leather. So, I decided to create an elastic band to keep it closed while I am carrying it. This also adds a bit of fun to my Bible and keeps the pages from getting bent. Here is what I call my "Bible Band."

I used a piece of duck fabric that I purchased from Hobby Lobby, created the band, and added a Manor House Creations fabric flower to cover the seam where I brought the ends together. The flower adds a bit more pink to my Bible. Agh, just what it needed. :) Most of you know that pink is my favorite color. :)

To create the band:

1. Wrap a tape measure around the height of your Bible (front and back) to get the length.
2. Using that measurement, cut one piece of 1" wide non-roll elastic the same length. Set aside.
3. Next, cut a piece of fabric that is double the measurement x 4" wide.
4. Fold the fabric in half lengthwise with right sides together and sew together using a 5/8" seam.
5. Turn right-side out and press.
6. Thread the elastic through the opening.
7. Bring ends together and wrap around the Bible to make sure the fit is as desired. Adjust if necessary and stitch together.
8. Add a flower or other embellishment to cover the seam.

Note: I left my edges raw on the end as they are not seen underneath the flower.

So, if you have a special Bible that doesn't have or need a cover, maybe a Bible Band is just what you need. Thanks for stopping by. Blessings,

Tuesday's {Tip} Sew A Bible Cover

As Bible Study Fellowship kicks off next week, I wanted to make a new Bible cover. I decided to carry a different Bible this year. Seems I am always switching things around. I wonder if I get bored easily. LOL! :) Anyway, I used this pattern and adjusted it to create my own unique Bible cover. Here is how my cover turned out:

I purchased the fabric from Hobby Lobby. I also sprayed it with Scotch Guard after I finished all of the sewing. I have found in the past that the covers get too dirty if I don't protect them. 

So, pick up some fun fabric, and create your own Bible cover. Blessings,

A {Book} I am Making

This weekend, Roben-Marie shared a new class she is offering called "Ripped and Stitched." You can see more about it here. Anyway, I immediately signed up as she is my favorite online instructor. Her classes are inexpensive, she teaches very clearly, her videos are great, and she creates amazing projects. Well, since I had a bit of a stressful week, I told the family that I was going to create all weekend. They could find me in my studio if they needed me--this weekend was mine!

I immediately began watching the videos and creating along the way. I am not done with my book yet but almost. I have the inside pages created, the cover is done, and I just need to put it all together. Today, I thought I would share the book cover. I just finished sewing my fabric yesterday, and I adhered it to my mat board this morning. Getting up at 4 a.m. can be advantageous. LOL! Here is what the book cover looks like (click on the photos to enlarge them):

Isn't it awesome? Oh gosh, I love it. I can't wait to get it put together. That's today's goal. Another Bible Cover

One of my girls saw my new Bible cover that I made on Monday, and she asked if I would make her one. If you missed my Bible cover, click here. Now this is my daughter that is "non-frill." She is my tomboy so picking fabric is hard because I want to pick "frill." LOL! Anyway, I took her to Hobby Lobby yesterday morning, and this is what we ended up with:

I am thankful I had the burlap trim on hand (you see it on a lot of my paper creations) because I think it worked well for her cover. This fabric is just 45" printed cotton. I actually prefer using decorator fabric or printed canvas fabric for Bible covers but Hobby Lobby didn't have anything she liked in those fabrics. Maya Road Trim on a New Bible Cover

Aging eyes! Ugh! My eye sight is getting so bad that I have a terrible time reading my regular print Bibles. I have several Bibles in many different versions as I use them for study. Well, now I cannot use most of them because they are just too hard to read even with my bifocals. I do have a congenital eye problem which I think is making my issue worse. Anyway, I decided to pull out an old NIV Thinline Large Print Bible that I use for teaching. I don't usually use it for study but it is very portable and easy to read. I took it to church yesterday as I needed to be able to read it. LOL! I think I am going to start using this as my portable Bible, and I will have to buy some new large print study Bibles. I am going to pray about where God would have my "old" Bibles go as I don't think I can use them anymore.

Anyway, this thinline Bible didn't have a cover, and it drove me nuts yesterday. So this morning I made a little cover for it. I wanted some trim as an accent, and I thought about lace but then I saw my Maya Road Organza trim on my table. Perfect! So, here is how my morning creation turned out:

And here are the four Premier Prints decorator fabrics I used. The small polka dot is on the inside of the cover.

I can't wait to take it to BSF tonight. It will be easy to read and much more portable than my study Bibles (that I can no longer read). LOL! Anyway,  I hope you have enjoyed seeing my new cover. Have a blessed Monday!

My {Guitar} Sewing Project

Well, in an effort to do something different, I decided to finally work on my daughter's quilt. I actually bought fabric for all 3 of my girls last September or so. I thought that I would make each of them quilts for Christmas. Well, Christmas has come and gone, and no quilts. Yesterday, I decided to get one done! I finished it this afternoon, and I wanted to share it with you. Here is the front of the quilt:
And here is the back: (Don't mind the lint. I tried to get it off but it really sticks to that fabric.) Fabric: Michael Miller Groovy Guitar and Teal Ta Dot

This quilt is for my tomboy that LOVES to play guitar. I knew when I saw this Michael Miller fabric that it would be perfect for her. I really love how it turned out, and most importantly my daugther loves it too. I can't wait to do the other quilts now. The fabrics I chose for my two other girls are definitely their personalities too!
